The Apartment:
- Nearly 1,000 sq ft loft with 10.5 ft ceilings and hardwood floors.
- The building was originally a factory that has been converted into residential loft apartments.
- The unit is on an elevated 1st floor (slightly above street-level).
- Furnished common area + a small outdoor patio (formerly a loading dock).
- Building has laundromat on-site. There's also a commercial laundromat about half a block away.
- Building entrance has a working intercom, a secured package room and an Amazon locker.
- Utilities are split evenly (Spectrum cable/WiFi $125/mo each, gas & electric vary seasonally).
- The apartment uses oil-filled electric radiator heaters during the winter (including in the bedroom for rent), which keep the space comfortable. Happy to discuss details.
- The common areas are already furnished, so I’m looking for someone who prefers a streamlined shared space and plans to bring furniture only for their bedroom. The kitchen is fully stocked, so no additional kitchen items are needed.
- My bedroom (Bedroom 2 on the floor-plan) is on the opposite side of the apartment; the bedrooms share no walls.
The Room:
- The room for rent is Bedroom 1 on the floor-plan.
- Approximately 165 sq ft and comfortably fits a queen-sized bed, desk, and dresser.
- North-facing double window fits a standard window AC.
- The room shows some furniture left by the previous tenant (small shelving unit, a wardrobe and a window AC). These can be removed if you don't need them.
Location Highlights:
- Southside of Williamsburg
- 2 blocks from Domino Park
- 12 min walk to Bedford Ave L and Marcy Ave JMZ
Who I'm looking to rent to:
- Preferably a woman or gay man who wants a comfortable, quiet place to come home to.
- Ideally in their 30s-40s
- A person who is respectful and easygoing - does dishes, takes out the trash, contributes to household basics.
- Must like large senior dogs.
- No indoor smoking, no live-in partners, no additional pets.
- Minimum 6-month stay.
- I work in fashion and design.
- I’m into culture in all forms - art, fashion, music and pop culture.
- I've lived in the apartment since 2015 and plan to continue to stay in the apt. long term.
- I’m friendly, easygoing, and value a comfortable, chill home.
- I enjoy having a few friends over now and then, but this isn’t a party apartment.
- I currently work from home but typically work a hybrid schedule of 2 days from home/3 in an office. I'm in my room the majority of the day when I'm working from home.
- I always pay bills on time and keep common spaces clean and tidy.
- I have a 14 year old, 50 lb coon-hound mix dog, so I can't accept any more pets in the apartment. I'm a responsible pet owner - the dog is house-trained, is not destructive and has a walker on weekdays. She’s gentle but barks at the door buzzer and at unfamiliar guests when they walk into the apartment until they become acquainted. Fairly typical dog behavior, but I want anyone considering this space to be aware. She has light colored hair that sometimes sheds, so I vacuum and clean frequently and brush her outside often. That said, if you are offended by the possibility of getting dog hair on your socks, this is not a good fit.
- $2,175/month rent
- $2,175 security deposit
- First month’s rent + security due at move-in
- Valid government-issued ID
- Last three months of pay stubs
- Two references required, including at least one housing-related reference (former landlord or roommate). Professional references also accepted. Personal/friend references are not sufficient.
- Happy to provide references as well.
- A standard written roommate agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to move-in.
