My name is Jen and I am a public defender in Brooklyn organizing this coat drive on behalf of community members (clients). Often, after clients are arrested and then released from central bookings (arraignments) they lack weather appropriate clothing.
I have created an Amazon registry if you wish to donate a warm clothing item (link is at the bottom of the listing) or a gift card to purchase these items. 100% of all donations and proceeds will go directly to our clients. The largest need is for adult male coats in sizes medium through extra large. If you wish to use a site other than Amazon to send warm coats, you can send donations directly to our office
C/O Jen Kovacs at 111 Livingston Street 9th Floor Brooklyn NY 11201.
If you have warm coats on hand to donate, we are also seeking donations of gently used, clean adult male coats and sweaters. You can bring them to the 9th floor reception area of 111 Livingston Street Brooklyn, NY 11201 during business hours. If you have a large amount of coats that you wish to get to the office, please send me an email and I am happy to help coordinate this with you.
I am a public defender in Brooklyn and have worked for the Legal Aid Society as a staff attorney for the last six years. I love this job and helping provide clients with a sense of warmth and dignity as they leave central bookings and re-enter the community.
If you have any questions about drop off of warm clothes or any issues accessing the amazon website or just want to connect, feel free to send me an email, I would love to hear from you..
Post a job and gigs listing and ask our community for what you need
