I’m looking for a long-term subletter / lease takeover starting March 1st, but open to a slightly later start date.
The bedroom is large, bright, spacious, and a part of a beautiful cooperative community. You’ll be joining a warm, inclusive household of five wonderful friends and a sweet cat. This is for someone who is interested in being a part of a house, rather than simply having roommates. Everyone contributes to the house by completing a weekly chore, and a good amount of groceries are shared.
Living here has been a gift. Everyone is kind, thoughtful, and respectful of each other and the shared spaces. The apartment has 2 and a half baths, two living rooms, a basement, a washing machine, and a backyard. Despite living with others, it’s common to have plenty of quiet time to yourself.
This house is majority Queer and BIPOC, and everyone here is committed to building a more equitable world rooted in racial, economic, and social justice.
The bedroom has incredibly high ceilings, huge bay windows, and is tucked away from the main common areas. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the big fridge is shared—everyone labels personal items, which keeps things smooth.
We’re two blocks from Herbert Von King Park, five minutes from the G train and multiple bus lines, and surrounded by great restaurants, bars, and neighborhood spots.
We’re hoping to find someone who balances connection and privacy, is mature, self-aware, clean, and communicates openly. Bonus points if you’re Queer, a person of color, creative, and are looking to be a part of a living, breathing, vibrant community.
My name is Kena. I’m a Queer mixed Black person who’s called Brooklyn home for about four years. I’m an artist, athlete, and writer working at a non-profit.
I’ve loved living here and I’m excited to welcome someone who’ll love it too. Please reach out if you have any questions!
First month rent and security (Total:$2,300), and proof of income, as well as signing a sub-letter agreement. Renewal will be navigated with the current leaseholders.
Please reach out email and include “HartSeed” in the subject line, and respond to the following prompts:
- Please share a bit about yourself
- Why are you looking to be a part of this community?
- Do you have experience with cooperative, communal, or 5+ roommate housing?
- Are you comfortable committing to a weekly one-hour chore, attending twice-monthly house meetings, and participating in collective accountability?
- Can you comfortably live in a predominantly BIPOC and Queer space?
For folks that are a good fit, I’ll follow up and schedule a house visit and answer any questions :)
