This is a unique opportunity to live at The Brewery, where you can join an incredible community of artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, architects, and other creatives. It's the largest artists' colony in the country, on a 12-acre gated site with 320+ studios and over 500 people living and working here - just a mile from downtown.
This beautiful loft is 2,000 square feet with 22-foot ceilings and has a cool steampunk vibe, with a giant satellite-dish light fixture in the kitchen and handmade metal fixtures in the front hall, kitchen, and art studio. It's on the second floor and, though there is a freight elevator, it should be considered a walk-up. This loft is a shared space with another person who lives there.
Your bedroom suite has its own entrance off the kitchen and includes a hallway with built-in closets and a private bathroom. The large bedroom has a queen-size bed, side tables, a desk, and a chair. Or you are welcome to bring your own furnishings. The room is large enough for a king-size bed.
The bedroom and common areas are $1750, including utilities.
Your roommate has an upstairs bedroom and their own bathroom, well separated from your main-floor room.
There is a private art studio for an additional $500, which is way under market. We prefer to have someone rent both, but we will consider renting only the bedroom suite.
The shared areas are very cool, with a fully equipped kitchen and a living area with a sofa that converts into two beds for guests.
The art studio is a really beautiful, unusually large space at about 400 square feet, with 22-foot ceilings and a large eastern-facing window. It has curtains and two large work tables, which can be removed. It's an excellent space for a painter, an architect, a ceramicist, a graphic artist, a photographer, or other creatives.
Twice a year, the Brewery Artwalk attracts over 10,000 visitors in the Fall and Spring to visit over 100 open artists' studios where you can exhibit and sell your work or walk around and meet your neighbors. It's a great event.

This is an exceptional opportunity to live and work in a stunning loft, while also being part of a vibrant community - a multi-generational and diverse group of artists and creatives from all walks of life in a supportive, welcoming, and collaborative environment that is truly unique.
My husband and I have exhibited work in the US and internationally at museums like MoMA and others. We have curated exhibitions and collaborated on large-scale public video installations. As a sculptor, painter, and mixed media artist, my husband has a full-time art practice.
I am a filmmaker and installation artist and currently running a small arts-based social justice and civic engagement non-profit for college students. In 2019, we drafted and helped pass legislation to mandate voter and civic education for 2.5 million students at public colleges. I also work as a director/camerawoman with my own production company. My last doc won an LA Emmy.
We love art, food, travel and our families and love to meet our roommates on the roof for coffee or sunset beer.
My husband and I are the leaseholders and live next door. We are artists and filmmakers who have been here for almost 40 years. Our agreement with you is month-to-month, with 45 days' notice. We prefer a minimum stay of 3 months, though a longer-term roommate is welcome. We are looking for someone who is chill, neat, and friendly, with proof of income and references. If you are interested, we can meet virtually and then schedule a visit if you are local. You will also meet privately - virtually or in person - with your new roommate to see if it's a good fit. He's a lovely person who loves to cook.
To move in, we require a signed lease, the first and last month's rent, and a one-month security deposit.
