Outdoor Play-Based Educator | $25/hr | July 7 – August 8, 2025

Brooklyn Trails is a nature and play-based summer program in Prospect Park for children ages 3–7. We’re looking for warm, creative, and quick-thinking educators to join us for five magical weeks of art-making, storytelling, nature walks, and unstructured outdoor play.

This is not a typical classroom job. We work in the woods, roll with the unexpected, and center children’s voices every step of the way. If you’re someone who thrives outside, loves working with kids, and can pivot gracefully when plans change—this might be your perfect summer role.

Responsibilities:
-Lead mixed-age groups in outdoor activities that promote creative and intellectual growth
-Think on your feet, stay calm under pressure, and embrace spontaneity with a problem-solving mindset
-Foster a fun, respectful, and emotionally safe environment for all children
-Build strong, positive relationships with kids, caregivers, and fellow staff
-Keep a constant eye on safety and group dynamics in a natural setting

Qualifications:
-Experience working with young children in a teaching, childcare, or camp setting
-Passion for outdoor education, play-based learning, and child-led exploration
-Excellent communication skills—both with adults and young children
-Patient, flexible, and grounded with a positive, team-oriented attitude
-Able to respect children’s autonomy and practice consent-based interactions

Details & Compensation:
-Hours: 9 AM – 3 PM, Monday through Friday
-Dates: July 7 – August 8, 2025
-Pay: $25/hour

About Us

Hi everyone! I'm Sydney, the director of Brooklyn Trails, an arts-based nature program in Prospect Park.

At Brooklyn Trails, we spend our days outdoors—exploring, creating, and learning through nature and art. Our program is designed for children ages 3–7. Each day includes art-making, storytelling, nature walks, and plenty of unstructured play.

Our approach is child-led, with a strong emphasis on consent, curiosity, and joy. We see children as active participants in their learning and treat them with the respect and autonomy they deserve.

If you’re passionate about outdoor education and love working with young children, we’d love to hear from you! We’re excited to welcome a new member to our Brooklyn Trails community.
