Part-Time Head of Production (Early-Stage RTW Apparel)

Hi there! I’m launching an independent women’s clothing line based on original designs I’ve sewn and wear myself, using deadstock. There is confirmed retail interest (high end boutiques in LA and NYC) and I’m moving into small-batch commercial production.

I’m looking for an experienced Production Manager to fully own the production function end-to-end, with minimal day-to-day oversight from me. This role is for someone who already understands RTW production (or has had some level of exposure) and is comfortable being accountable for execution.

What You’ll Own

-End-to-end responsibility for apparel production, from sampling through bulk
-Sourcing, managing, and communicating with domestic factories (NYC preferred)
-Managing production calendars, timelines, and deliverables
-Overseeing technical development, fittings, and approvals
-Managing tech packs, specs, and factory communications
-Identifying costs and issues early and proactively
-Running day-to-day production independently and bringing recommendations or decisions to me as needed

I will provide creative direction, final approvals, and budget sign-off, and an initial list of factories with whom I've been in touch.

Current Scope

-Small, fit-led capsule
-One bottoms silhouette in raw deadstock indigo denim and deadstock cotton twill
-Matching tops in the same materials
-One knit style
-Domestic, small-batch production

Experience with denim, rigid wovens, and domestic factories is a strong plus.

Who This Is For

-Someone with RTW production ownership experience
- Comfortable independently managing factories, timelines, and problem-solving
- Experienced working directly with apparel factories
-Detail-oriented, decisive, and calm under ambiguity
- NYC-based preferred and available for in-person factory visits as needed
- Interested in part-time, contract-based work with a growing independent brand (if line is successful, opportunity to continue acting as production lead for future lines)

This is a part-time, retainer based role. Expected range: 3,500-5k/month, commensurate with experience.
