My beloved, fully-furnished apartment is available to sublet for up to 14 months, from December 14th 2025 until February 14th 2027 (ideally to one tenant for the full period that I'm away).

It's on a quiet tree-lined street and features a cosy, welcoming living space; light-drenched bedroom; and a small but well-equipped kitchen (I like to cook and bake!). Steam central heating = toasty in the winter; AC wall units in the living room and bedroom = comfortable in summer. The apartment is in a classic NYC walk-up. It's on the top (5th) floor, which means beautiful morning light, no noise from upstairs neighbours, and sneaky roof access if you're quiet about it.

It's in a good spot on E82nd Street: close to Central Park, Carl Schurz Park, the Met and museum mile, the East River esplanade and bike paths, cafes/restaurants/bars on 2nd/Lex, and boutiques and architecture closer to Madison. There's a greenmarket on the doorstep every Saturday, Wholefoods and Fairway are each a few minutes’ walk away, and Trader Joes is a 20 minute stroll. The local library is three blocks away, at 79th. It's a chill, friendly, highly walkable neighbourhood.

The entrance to the Q subway is one block away and the 4/5/6 train is a 6-minute walk. There are a dozen buses running up/downtown, and you can get across town on the express 79 or 86. Personal favourite, when time allows: a lazy ferry ride to Queens, Brooklyn, or all the way to Wall Street (and even on to Rockaway beach) from just a few blocks north at E90th.

I'll consider lending my bike to someone who promises to take good care of it... This sublet is ideal for someone who will be moving with a few suitcases. I'll be leaving all my books in situ (please, please treat them well, they mean a lot to me!), as well as kitchen equipment, espresso machine, fan, iron, linens for you to use etc.

Heating, hot water, and gas are all included, but you'll pay for the electricity you use. I share Wi-Fi with my neighbour, who is willing to share the password with a trustworthy subtenant who'll pay her monthly up-front.

I've found wonderful subtenants via Listings Project in the past, and am hoping to repeat that experience! Looking forward to meeting you!

About This Lister

I'm a science/environment journalist originally from the UK, and working in the Scottish Highlands for the next year, as Editor of a local newspaper. I'm typically either outdoors in nature or curled up inside with a stack of books and a pile of things to make or fix. I've lived in the apartment for more than 12 years -- ended up here by chance and can't quite tear myself away. I have used Listings Project before to find subtenants, and had fantastic experiences. I'll be the point person for any issues while I'm out of town, but the super lives in-building and my neighbours are always happy to answer questions. They're friendly, laid-back and un-intrusive -- the dream!
