About this Lister

Hello, I’m Tracey — a pianist, singer, and music educator who has been making music for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a small town in Australia, where music was my escape, my passion, and my way of connecting with others. From a very young age I was drawn to both the discipline of classical piano and the joy of singing, and those twin loves shaped the path of my life.

Over the years, I’ve studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, performed across the world, written and recorded my own music, and taught hundreds of students — from beginners discovering their first notes to professionals preparing for the stage. I even ran my own music school in the Blue Mountains for nearly two decades, where I learned as much from my students as they did from me.

What inspires me most as a teacher is seeing someone unlock their own voice — whether through a song on the piano or singing with confidence for the very first time. I love helping students of all ages and backgrounds build a strong foundation while also finding joy and freedom in music.

Now based in Cobble Hill, I’m excited to share my love of music with this community. Lessons are offered in my home studio, either 30 or 60 minutes, tailored to each student’s goals. My approach is warm, supportive, and always rooted in the belief that music should be both fun and deeply rewarding.

Background and Expertise

Tracey Yarad’s musical journey began at the age of four, studying piano and singing in her hometown of Taree, Australia. She performed regularly in eisteddfods, music theatre productions, and concerts with the Arts Council Music Society, quickly developing into a standout young musician. At sixteen, she achieved the highest grade in the State of New South Wales for the AMEB Pianoforte Sixth Grade examination. Soon after graduating high school, she was awarded one of only three coveted scholarships in NSW to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she trained under Miss Elizabeth Todd and Mr. Frank Taranto.

At the Conservatorium, Tracey majored in both piano and voice, developing a deep love for German Lieder and Italian arias. She went on to complete a Diploma of Music Education, continuing her private studies for another decade with esteemed teachers Patricia Ortell and Janet Rutledge.

Her teaching career has been as varied as it is impactful — from prestigious private schools to homeless shelters, where she created empowering music programs for street-involved youth. She has worked in EMI and BMG studios as a vocal mentor, taught in NSW high schools through the government-supported AUSMUSIC “Roll Over Beethoven” program, and for 18 years directed her own thriving Blue Mountains Music Academy, overseeing 12 teachers and more than 200 students.

Since relocating to New York City in 2017, Tracey has continued to expand her artistry, studying with world-class jazz musicians while teaching piano and voice to students of all ages and levels. She is passionate about nurturing creativity, building strong technique, and sharing the joy of music in a supportive, inspiring environment.
