Hi! My charming, clean, calm North Portland Craftsman bungalow (in the St. John's neighborhood) is a great space to work, chill out, and use as a home base if you'd like to check out Portland and the wonders of the Pacific Northwest this fall.
The house has windows everywhere and is two stories: The main bedroom, farmhouse kitchen, bathroom, and office are on the first floor, and there's a utility room with a W/D in the basement. There's a cute gas fireplace if you want to cozy up by a fire at night.
The bedroom is stellar for sleeping. It has a comfy queen bed and a ventilation window so you can hear the leafy trees rustling at night. The kitchen is airy and bright, with a new gas stove and everything you'll need to cook. (The gourmet New Seasons grocery store is a 10-minute walk from my house.)
Other homey perks include a Smart TV with streaming apps and a soundbar for your phone and the TV.
There's also a quiet little home office off the back, which gets great light. I write here every day. WiFi is strong.
The fenced backyard is private and has a firepit and a big table, if you want to WFH outdoors (cold, but doable) and watch the birds.
I'm next to the University of Portland, about a 20-minute drive from the airport and the Mississippi District and Alberta District, and 25 minutes from downtown. There's a shortcut to the OR coast from my place — and the iconic St. John's Bridge (Portland's Brooklyn Bridge) and the hiking trails of Forest Park are very close. There's a big park a few blocks away, a cute dog-friendly coffee + wine spot within walking distance, and New Seasons is a 10-minute walk.
There are lots of good restaurants in the area (sushi, Vietnamese, amaze pizza, a sourdough bakery, cafes, McMenamins beer pub + theater, and, bc it's Portland, there are two food cart pods). Biking around the city from my place is a breeze, too. I have a bike, if someone would like to use it.
I'm looking for one person or a couple who's clean and responsible and knows the ins and outs of subletting. It's a nice spot!
I'm a freelance writer and I divide my time between Brooklyn and PDX. In BK, I walk the pavement and hang out at Fort Greene dog park. In PDX, I surf, ride my bike, eat good food, and write. I'm originally from Portland, but I've spent most of the past 15 years in NYC.
I'll be in BK and available by text during this time.
