Hey! I'm looking for a new roommate to fill the primary bedroom in my beautiful Crown Heights apartment. The room has a private en suite bathroom, plenty of light and space, and sweeping views from its two large windows.
The unit has an in-unit combination washer-dryer, a dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and stove (all new), AC and heating fully controllable and built into each room, and lots of natural light. The most impressive things about it, though, are the giant private terrace (larger than the apartment!), just for us to use, and the incredible panoramic views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. The unit has 3 bedrooms: one is mine, the largest is yours, and the third is a shared office/guest room. The space is on the 14th floor, making it a quiet and peaceful oasis.
The living room and office are furnished, but the primary room is unfurnished. I have some outdoor furniture for the terrace.
The building has a 24-hour doorman with secure delivery and mail, elevators, a gym, and a large, finished rooftop deck with grills, seating, and activity room (though with our own private terrace, I rarely go up there). The building is in a great location, close to Franklin St. for dining and bars, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park. It's close to the Franklin St. 2/3/4/5/S stop for quick access to Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn and the B44+ stop for access to Williamsburg.
I'm a 35 year-old academic (he/him, gay) who works from home. I moved to Brooklyn a year ago and love it here! I love finding new restaurants to eat at, taking walks in the Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park, exploring the city, and relaxing at home with a nice Youtube video or sudoku. I love houseplants, interior design, and thoughtful conversations. I have a Nintendo Switch and enjoy the occasional videogame with friends on the 65" TV. I enjoy listening to music (always with headphones), but I don't watch much TV. I love animals but don't have any. I care a lot about self-improvement and take my mental health seriously. I'm a big believer in respecting each other's space, and I try to be as accommodating and unobtrusive as possible. I enjoy smoking weed, but I always do it outside on the terrace. I don't drink alcohol or use tobacco.
I'm looking for a mature, respectful person to join me in the paradise that is this apartment, with its amazing views, amenities, and proximity to some of the best Brooklyn has to offer. My ideal roommate is someone relaxed and respectful who takes pride in the place they live. Because I work from home and use the office, it probably is best if you work hybrid or in-person, but we can definitely work out a shared agreement about the office (which I happily did with my previous roommate). I would love for someone excited to use the terrace for outdoor gardening or hosting gatherings; it's too nice not to be used to its full potential!
The total rent for the apartment is $6400/mo, which we split. Utilities are $50 for Verizon Fios, around $100 for electricity most months, and $65 for building amenities, all of which we split evenly. The 1-year lease starts July 1, 2026, but early move-in may be possible.
Pets are allowed by the building, but I would only be comfortable with cats or a well-behaved dog.
