Looking for elevated and exclusive art lessons from someone actually in the contemporary art world?

I am a Frieze-reviewed painter working with promising young artists to develop technical skill, conceptual clarity, and artistic confidence. I offer lessons ranging from basic drawing fundamentals and the French Academic method to contemporary portfolio development and gallery visits.

Sessions are typically one-on-one, held weekly or biweekly at the student’s home, my studio, or a neutral space. Material sets can be provided.

About this Lister

I am a contemporary painter based in New York City and London. Having been trained as a draftsman at three acclaimed institutions, I enjoy a deep commitment to daily drawing.

Teaching is a meaningful extension of my practice that not only passes on important knowledge and skill to the next generation, but is also a recursive learning experience for myself. I believe that young promising talents are capable of great art, and that their practices hold merit no matter what stage of development they are at.

My approach to instruction is simple: encourage and nurture a student's own creativity while equipping them with the tools and techniques to express themselves further.

Background and Expertise

I studied drawing and painting at Hong Kong Art School, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and City and Guilds of London Art School.

Immediately after finishing my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2022, I was offered a string of gallery, museum, and art fair solo exhibitions. It was during this period that I felt compelled to start teaching 19th century drawing to high school students in London (in conjunction with City and Guilds of London Art School). While my classes were popular, for me, simply having the chance to pass on such rare skills was reward enough.

Since then, I have been featured in major publications including Frieze, British Vogue, Forbes, and Artsy. I have won several notable awards and my work is included in four public art collections. My full resume and teaching references are available on request.
