Location: Gatherwild Ranch, Germantown, NY
Term: Seasonal (May – October)
Type: 1099 Contract | Part-time (approx. 25 hours/week)
Compensation: $18 (starting) / hour + On-site Housing (included)
The Vision:
Gatherwild is not a traditional hotel; it’s a 15-acre boutique landscape retreat and working mini farm. We are looking for a Resident Overseer—someone who is part meticulous housekeeper, part hospitable concierge, and part steward of the land.
This role is ideal for a multi-hyphenate, self-motivated individual who thrives in nature and wants to swap the "grind" for a season of intentional living. You will be the heartbeat of the property, ensuring our unique tents are sanctuary-ready and our guests feel deeply connected to the magic of the Hudson Valley.
Your Primary Roles:
1. Housekeeping & Aesthetics:
You are the backbone of the guest experience. You believe that a clean, well-curated space is the foundation of a guest’s peace of mind.
- Execute full turnovers of our unique tents (making beds, sweeping nature out, and ensuring every interior detail is "photo-ready").
- Manage linens, towels, and the "extra-mile" touches that make a stay feel personal.
- Maintain the immediate areas around the tents, ensuring paths are clear and the "landscape lobby" is inviting.
2. Property Stewardship (Operations & "Ranch" Grit)
Living on-site means you are the eyes and ears of the ranch. You’ll manage the flow of the land.
- Keep communal areas (shared kitchen, bonfire pits, and sunset deck) tidy and peaceful.
- Address minor issues (a stuck zipper, a low battery, a wood stove question, hang a sunshade) to ensure a smooth guest stay.
- Farm Integration: Care for the resident goats, chickens, and ducks, ensuring they are happy and guests are interacting with them safely. Care for the garden and understand the growing cycles.
- Weather Watch: Help with basic seasonal transitions, like managing wood supply, and managing outdoor spaces during the sun & rain cycles.
3. Guest Relations & Outreach (The "Face" of the Ranch)
While the owner oversees the big picture, you are the daily ambassador for the Gatherwild "vibe."
- Friendly Concierge: Offer a warm smile and local recommendations to guests navigating the 15-acre property.
- Community Pulse: Act as a bridge to the local Hudson Valley ecosystem—identifying local makers for guest baskets or cool spots for cross-promotion.
- Creative Input: We love multi-faceted people. Depending on your skills, you may help with social media content, interior styling, or organizing small wellness "add-ons" like sauna schedules.
Who You Are:
- Physically Capable: You enjoy being active. This job involves traversing 15 acres of uneven terrain, light lifting, and plenty of movement in the heat of the summer.
- Detail-Obsessed: You notice the small things—a stray leaf on a rug, a crooked pillow, or a low supply of firewood.
- Self-Guided: You are a pro at managing your own time. You don’t need a micromanager to tell you what needs doing; you see the work and do it.
- A "Nature Person": You appreciate the beauty of a farmstay and don't mind the occasional bug, goat, or rainstorm.
- Reliable & Present: Weekends are a must. Because you live on-site, you are the "steward of the land" during your scheduled hours.
Why Gatherwild?
- A Unique Office: Your "breakroom" is a sunset deck and your "commute" is a walk through a wildflower path.
- Creative Culture: Founded by artists, Gatherwild is an open, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
- Flexibility: While we need consistency (25 hours/week), we value your outside projects and want to make the schedule work for your creative life.
- Friendly Team: You will not have to do this alone! You will share responsibilities with another experienced team member as well as the owner.
To Apply:
Please send your resume and a brief note (or video!) about why you’re a great match for Gatherwild. If you have "extra" skills—Content Creation, Sculpture, Interior Design, Gardening, etc.—tell us about them! We love incorporating unique visions into the ranch. We can't wait to meet you.
