We are offering a beautiful and spacious bedroom in our beloved triplex brownstone home. Our current roommate is moving in with her partner, and their move-out date isn’t fixed yet (between November 1 and December 1).

The room fits a queen/king bed, dresser, desk, and bookcases, with a south-facing window, decorative fireplace, and new built-in air conditioner. It overlooks a quiet, leafy backyard.

We are three women (ages 30-43) looking for a fourth (female, age 30-45) to join our shared lease (renewed yearly in September).
Two of us are pursuing humanities PhDs at NYU and CUNY, and the third works in environmental policy-making. We share a love for the arts, literature, and mindful, intentional living.

Our home is our quiet sanctuary from the city—a warm, grounded space where everyone can recharge. We’re looking for someone who also values calm, cleanliness, and reliability, and who brings curiosity, kindness, and good communication. We engage openly with each other’s needs and want everyone to feel supported and comfortable here. We hope to be friends with the people we live with and we appreciate a sense of joy and humor.

Ideally, you’re familiar with the caring kind of community work that makes a shared home feel like home—taking part in the shared chores, respecting shared spaces, and contributing to the atmosphere of ease and thoughtfulness that keeps the house special. Living this way sometimes takes a bit of extra energy and openness, a willingness to engage with perspectives and rhythms that may differ from your own, and to meet them with curiosity, patience, and kindness.
Partners are welcome to visit occasionally, but shouldn’t “move in".

The house itself is a gem: three floors of historic detail with woodwork and stained glass. The ground floor includes a living room, dining room, a large, fully equipped kitchen, and a new back porch. Upstairs are four bedrooms, two newly renovated bathrooms, and a laundry room.
We’re on a beautiful, tree-lined block in Park Slope, a 4-minute walk to the F/G train (7th Ave) and 10 minutes to Prospect Park.

About This Lister

You’d be joining a household of three women (Flora, Mikhail, and Manuela) whose ages range from 30 to 43. We’re looking for someone in a similar age range, ideally 30+. We work in academia, the arts non-profit sector, and the environmental non-profit sector, and we share a love of thoughtful, creative living. We’re all on a shared lease, and the house is managed by Brownstone Management Company on behalf of our landlord.

Rental requirements

Our management company requires a minimum credit score of 650 and an annual income of at least 40 times the monthly rent. These requirements are not flexible. The company charges a $370 fee to complete a background check and update the lease with the new roommate. A one-month security deposit is also required.
Rent is $1,738/month.
Utilities add up to around $80/month and they include internet, electricity, and a monthly cleaning service for the common spaces.
