Hey there! My roommate is heading to law school in the fall, so I'm looking for someone to take over his bedroom in my fully-furnished, two-bedroom East Village apartment for August and September, with the possibility to extend. I'm looking for a kind, responsible, and communicative person - feel free to reach out!

About the apartment:

It’s a third-floor walk-up on the southwest corner of 11th St and Avenue B — a bright, corner unit in a clean, well-kept building. Every room gets great natural light, and the living room is furnished with a couch, armchair, TV, and an upright piano you're welcome to play. The tiled kitchen is off to the side with a round glass table, chairs, fridge, oven/stove, and all the kitchenware you'll need.

About the room:

Your room would face 11th St and has space for a double or queen bed and desk/nightstand (the bed in the pics is a double and could be turned to face the window). The room also has a closet, an A/C unit, and two white shelves you can see in the photos.

The neighborhood:

I absolutely love the East Village, and this particular spot has been a truly wonderful place to live. It's the right amount of busy, where there are always people around going about their day but not so much happening that it becomes overly loud or crowded. This section of Avenue B is part of the Open Streets program (only local traffic is allowed through for most of the day), so there's not the same kind of craziness you'd get on Ave A, 1st Ave, etc. There are tons of amazing restaurants, cafes, bars, and stores right on our street, and Tompkins Square Park is just a block away. For groceries, Trader Joes, Target, and Whole Foods are a few blocks away on 14th St and Ave A, and for laundry there's a great laundromat right below us that offers wash and fold. Transportation is pretty great here, too - the L is a short walk and is really convenient because it's just a couple of stops away from Union Square, which will basically take you anywhere (Williamsburg is also just one stop away from the L). Beyond all that, there's a really strong sense of local community around here, and on some weekends there's even a little street fair on our block with music, art, retailers, etc.

Roommate info:

I just finished up a Midwest tour and am sticking around Wichita through August to work on recording an album. I currently have someone subletting my room - he's super kind and thoughtful, and you'd be sharing the apartment with him until September 1st when I'm back.

If you’re looking for a peaceful, sunny spot in one of the best neighborhoods in the city, feel free to reach out — I’d be happy to chat and share more details!

About This Lister

Hi! I'm a singer-songwriter and producer originally from the northern suburbs of Chicago. I graduated from Cornell in 2017 with a degree in history, and I've been living in NYC for the past six years — most of that time in the East Village. I also teach piano, songwriting, and production at a school on the Upper East Side.

I just finished up a summer Midwest tour and am in Kansas working on an album. I’d describe myself as thoughtful, easygoing, and creative. Looking forward to connecting and chatting more!
