Hi! We are Yaz, Josh, and Héctor. We have one room available in our duplex apartment in Ocean Hill. We’re one block from the Chauncey Street J/Z subway stop & a 10 minute walk from the L and A/C trains. We are near many grocery stores, pharmacies, barbershops, liquor stores, parks, and bars.

We're looking for a subletter for July through October, when the lease will renew. Our previous 4th roommate had an opportunity to move into his own space, so is leaving early but on good terms. Ideally, we’d like someone who can sign the lease with us in October. Yaz and Héctor have lived here for 2 years and Josh for 5 and have every intention of staying for the next lease.

The ideal candidate would be a clean and friendly person, excited to co-create this space with us, committed to household cleaning tasks and schedules. We all work within typical business hours with some WFH days. We are open to parties and friends hanging out, but we are also mindful of sleep hours during weekdays, especially because some of us wake up really early in the morning. We usually communicate about the hours that we would need to take showers, and use other facilities like the kitchen and the laundry room in our building (we share washer and dryer with the rest of the building, but since we are on the first floor, we have an independent access to the laundry room from our basement). We share utilities (wifi, gas, water and electricity).

This is an open space free of any hate or violent speech, LGBTQ+ inclusive, we stand with a number of causes, and we are looking for a roommate that has empathy for minorities and social causes.

About us!
I’m Yaz (they/them), an elementary school paraprofessional in the Lower East Side. Monday through Friday, I usually wake up and shower around 5/6am and am home by 4pm. I’m a native New Yorker, active in the Leatherdyke scene, and spend most of my time in queer community spaces.
I’m COVID-conscious, mask in public, and take risk-aware health precautions. I’d really appreciate a roommate who shares those values. I enjoy having friends over and aim to be mindful about shared space.
Since we’ll be sharing a wall, I’d love to live with someone I get along with. I’m social and want a home where we can be friendly and communicate openly. I’m looking for someone kind, respectful, and interested in co-creating a space that feels good for all of us.

Josh does web design for a tech company in the city. Usually working from home M/F and in the office (financial district) T/W/TH. He’s a Trekkie and 3D artist and generally keeps to himself, and often watches TV/Movies on our projector setup. He lives in the basement room, which is adjacent to a secondary communal space with an additional living room and workshop area.

Héctor is a designer who works in a non-profit that improves services for different public and private organizations that serve communities around the city. He usually works 2 days from home and 2 days from the office. In his free time, he likes to listen to music (he usually plays some vinyl on Sundays while doing breakfast), and sometimes does drawing, collage, and other crafts on the weekends.
