This is a good sized room in a second floor 3 bedroom 1 bathroom (technically 4 bedrooms but we use one as a dining room) apartment off the Franklin Ave 2/3/4/5 in Crown Heights. We’ve got central air, fully furnished living room and dining room, plenty of dishware and cookware (though I wouldn’t mind having more mugs around). The room itself could easily fit a Full or a Queen sized matress, has a big window that gets plenty of light, and a decent sized closet. The apt is a 20 min walk from the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park. I’ve lived here for over 3 years, and while it’s not technically rent-controlled the rent has barely gone up since moving in. I’m attempting to prioritizing queer/trans people, but it’s not at all a must as long as you’re respectful or at least funny.
I’m a freelance artist and bartender living in NY for the past 7 years. Not a neat freak but I clean up after myself and hope others do too. I am sober, but I do not mind there being alcohol in the apartment so long as its not everywhere I look. I’m trans. I love cooking for people (I make a disturbingly good risotto).
The landlord requires applicants to have a personal credit score of 675+ and income 40x the rent. Guarantors are allowed if they have 700+ credit and 80x rent income, but even with a guarantor they still uphold the personal credit score requirement. The application takes a second, especially if involving a guarantor, so I’m trying to get an application in asap to get approved for Sept 1 move in. Also, if you are looking to move a little sooner than Sept 1 I’m down to have someone sublet the room for a week or two before the official lease start date (provided that the lease is signed) as the room will be empty for the back half of August.
