Hi! I'm looking for a roommate for my 2BR apartment as my current roommate is moving for work. It is located one block away from the Knickerbocker M and a quick walk from Dekalb L. My first roommate, who I met through listings project, lived here for 5+ years! Our apartment is railroad style with bedrooms on opposite ends, each with their own bathroom, connected by a narrow-ish kitchen area (sadly no windows in there lol). The room faces the backyard, is quiet, and gets a good amount of light in the afternoon/evening (especially in the summer ~ the last few photos are old from when I used to live in that room and were taken in August around 6:30 PM). The landlord is friendly and responsive, and his parents live on the first floor (they speak Mandarin and Fujianese). I have a great relationship with them as well as our neighbors across the hall! The rent does not include utilities (National Grid, Con Ed, & Optimum Internet), which I pay each month, and are roughly $100 for each person. Sorry, but no pets!
I'm Yvette, she/her, 31 yr old Taurus who previously lived in Philly and grew up in Jersey. I've lived in the apartment for four years, my whole time in NYC. I work at a fair housing non profit (hybrid), teach yoga, and love swimming at the YMCA. I love to bake, share food, and go out to shows. It's important for me to have a roommate who is mutually invested in upkeeping the space and making our home a peaceful place to return to after a busy day. Honestly, since we don't have a big common area, we tend to not host gatherings here. I don't mind the occasional dirty dish but I like keeping the common areas clean/counters wiped down, etc. I don't need to be BFF with my roommate but I like being able to care for each other and be invested in each other's well being! I'm looking for someone who can commit to staying for a year (and preferably longer) and is conscious of others and the space. Please reach out with any questions and tell me about yourself. Happy to meet in person and show you around the apartment.
One month rent ($1150) + security deposit paid back to my current roommate ($1150), landlord requires proof of income and asks for credit score. Pretty chill process.
