Job Description: We are seeking a compassionate, reliable caregiver to support a 39-year-old woman with intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive, and dedicated to promoting dignity and meaningful engagement in daily activities.
Location: Riverdale, Bronx
Pay: $30/hour
Schedule: We are looking for people with weekday and/or weekend availability; hours/days are flexible!
Hours: Starting at 5 hours/week, with the goal of increasing the # of hours with the client once the relationship is established.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with IDD and/or similar care needs is a plus!
- Experience working with people with minimal language and non-speakers is a plus!
- Ability to support personal care with professionalism and respect
- Ability to follow care plans and safety guidelines
- Reliable, patient, and compassionate demeanor
- Willingness to be flexible and creative to support adults with various needs and challenges
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one care for a female with intellectual disabilities
- Provide personal care, including dressing, bathing, and toileting
- Assist with daily living tasks and hygiene routes
- Communicate effectively using alternative methods
- Monitor wellbeing and communicate any concerns to family
- Collaborate with therapists, family members, and other providers to ensure consistent care
- Engage the client in leisure activities like drawing, listening to music, and introducing new, similar interests.
