Seeking Embroiderer (NYC Preferred) – Fine Art Collaboration
I am currently looking for a skilled embroiderer whose techniques and aesthetic align with the intricate, expressive embroidery seen in Alexander McQueen pieces.
For an upcoming show, I am incorporating embroidery directly into my paintings and am seeking a collaborator who can translate parts of my painted designs into embroidered elements on canvas prior to my painting process.
Project Details:
• Embroidery will be integrated into fine art paintings
• Designs include:
• Butterflies (approximately 4 inches wide)
• Feather motifs with long, cascading tassels extending off the canvas
• Work will be completed on canvas before painting begins
Logistics:
• Compensation: per painting (to be discussed)
• This is a remote position, but preference is given to NYC-based artists
• If needed, in-person check-ins at my Brooklyn studio would be ideal.
Requirements:
• Strong portfolio demonstrating embroidery work
• Ability to interpret and execute from visual art references
• Experience in bead work
If interested, please reach out with examples of your past work and a brief introduction.
Looking forward to finding the right collaborator for this body of work. Potential in future projects to come.
Genevieve May is a New York–based artist whose work moves between hyper-realism and abstraction, often merging painterly technique with sculptural and textile elements as well.
This collaboration is ideal for someone who is excited by the intersection of fine art and haute couture, and who is interested in contributing to work that is both technically detailed and conceptually driven.
