Looking for an experienced, skilled New York based sewer to join our team on a part-time/freelance basis to assist with upcoming production, both one of a kind and limited run garments.
We work exclusively with antique, vintage and surplus textiles many of which need to be handled with care. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with non traditional materials, a good communicator and listener who asks questions when clarification is needed. We will provide detailed instructions for the construction of each garment from cutting to finishing details and everything in between.
Creating garments of the highest quality in a thoughtful, responsible way is at the core of what we do. Looking for someone who understands and is interested in our way of working to help us grow as a brand and collection.
Must have at least two years experience making fine garments and be able to provide samples of work for review. Must be able to travel to our studio for production meetings, fittings, etc.
Ideal candidate will have own work space with sewing machine and professional steam iron. Knowledge of pattern making/grading a plus.
