Hook & Eye Theater is seeking a creative and reliable Freelance Social Media Manager to help us build buzz and keep our audience engaged as we develop our next original theater piece over the coming year.
We are a Brooklyn-based ensemble theater company known for collaboratively devised work with a touch of the surreal. As artists, we’re deeply invested in the work we make—but we’ll admit it: we’re not super plugged into the world of social media. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for someone who not only understands how to craft engaging content, but who can also guide us in making smart choices about where and how to show up online. We need someone who can take the reins, help shape our digital presence, and keep things moving with minimal oversight.
What You’ll Do:
- Create and schedule posts (primarily Instagram and Facebook; open to exploring TikTok or others)
- Develop and maintain a content calendar tied to our creative process
- Repurpose existing materials (photos, video clips, past show content)
- Recommend which platforms we should prioritize, and why.
- Meet with us regularly to, we're thinking a bi-weekly zoom or something, to keep us all up to date on task with deliverables.
What We’re Looking For:
- A social media savvy freelancer with a passion for the arts
- Strong writing skills and an eye for visual storytelling
- Experience with content creation tools (Canva, Later, Buffer, etc.)
- A self-starter who’s comfortable working independently
- Familiarity with indie theater or NYC’s creative scene is a big plus!
Details:
Freelance / Remote
Up to 10 hours per month (at least out the outset, we may ramp up as we get closer to our 2026 production)
Pay is hourly, commensurate with experience
