Seeking care on Wednesdays during the school year from 3:45 to 6:45 - you would be taking a 12 year old to violin lessons ~25 blocks from our house (straight shot on the subway) and then supervising homework. (We also have a 9 year old - mom will take to violin in a separate location at the same time.) You will need to be able to navigate on the subway, pick up the violin and books at our apartment (this is an elevator building from an accessibility perspective), and bring our kiddo to their music school (which does have ~5 stairs to navigate.) Mom is a former caregiver who has strong opinions on treating people fairly :) - for example, we provide reciprocal references (happy to connect you to former sitters), will tell you if our kids our sick and pay (and will pay if you are sick for you to stay home), respect your time by not being late unless it's a true emergency. Someone who has experience working with tweens is a bonus - ideally it's someone who can healthily assert themselves, model setting boundaries with our 12 year old while respecting their growing independence, keep their calm when a kid is pushing limits, etc. I recommend that you be a short commute from Morningside Heights/the UWS not as a requirement of the job (that's not cool) but for your own sanity (it's just not enough hours to make a long and sometimes volatile commute worth it.) Please send a resume and if we move forward, the process would include a 20-30 min Zoom including the kid and possibly checking 2 references.
