The apartment (2bed/2bath + 1nook) is on the second floor of a classic Brooklyn brownstone, with a family and their two young kids living on the floor below.
The available bedroom has a skylight and window that bring in natural light throughout the day. It comfortably fits a full bed, and could probably fit a queen — just note that it would go right up against the radiator. The bedroom comes with a full wall-to-wall closet. You'll also have your own large private bathroom featuring a jacuzzi tub (with a skylight), separate shower, and lots of storage.
The rest of the apartment includes a spacious kitchen with plenty of shelving, as well as a dishwasher. There is also a reading nook/office that gets filled with sunlight in the morning. I work out of the nook 1–2x/week, and when my current roommate and I both work from home, she sits in the living room (which has a door in case you don't want sound to travel) so it's been a breeze.
There are also skylights in the hallway and living room, so sunlight pours in as the day goes on — if you’re someone who needs a little light to function (same), this apartment delivers.
There’s no in-unit laundry, but a laundromat is literally around the corner. The B/Q at Church Ave is a 5–10 min walk (I usually get there in 5–6), and the F/G at Ft. Hamilton Pkwy is about 10–15 min (I get there in 10). No pets allowed, per the landlord.
My roommate, who is moving in with her partner, will be taking most of the furniture in the living room and kitchen. If you have your own furniture or have always wanted to design your dream Brooklyn apartment, this is your shot :) I'm also super open to co-creating the shared spaces!
This apartment isn't cheap, but it's worth it :) The neighborhood is calm and friendly, with lots of great cafes, restaurants (amazing pizza), and the like! You're also a literal one (!!) block from Prospect Park.
Who I'm looking for:
Someone in their 20s–30s who’s kind, grounded, and respectful of shared space. I’d love to live with someone who’s down to be friendly and chat here and there, while also comfortable doing their own thing. It’s really important to me that the apartment feels calm and easy to be in. I’m not looking for a party-at-home dynamic — friends, hosting something once in a while, and overnight guests are totally fine (I have them too!), just not a nightly thing. Mutual respect and good communication go a long way.
If this sounds like a good fit, reach out and tell me a little about yourself.
I'm 29 and work as a therapist supporting Ukrainian clients in NYC. I speak Ukrainian, Russian, and English, and am trying to brush up on my Spanish. I'm a Boston native and like to go back for a weekend every few months to visit family.
When I'm home, I keep things pretty low-key — I'll watch TV on my laptop, I'll read, cook, meal prep, and just kinda hang out. I'm either in my room or in the common spaces, depending on the day. Knitting is a huge hobby of mine, and in the winter I go full yarn-mode. I'm also in love with the park and spend a lot of my free time there — either running the main loop or walking around with friends. On the weekends I'm either out during the day or staying in and recuperating from a busy work week.
Current tenant
The room is $1880/mo + utilities which come out to about $200/month (sometimes less in the in-between seasons). If you're interested, you can reach out to me, meet me, see the apartment, and then I'll connect you to my landlord, and if all goes well, you'll sign the new lease! I believe the landlord wants either 40x income or a guarantor. Once you sign, you'll pay first month's rent and the security deposit.
