Available

October 31, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Neighborhood

Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

Transportation

near Broadway/Myrtle J/M train

Size

150 sq. ft.

Private bedroom in one bedroom apartment. Living room serves as my bedroom but I may be out of town for the majority of the sublet period. Will be sharing for some weeks, but otherwise the roommate will have use of the entire apartment. Need someone who is definitely ok to move out before my lease ends and I move out by January.

The bedroom is fairly spacious and comes semi-furnished. There is a queen size bed with six large storage drawers in frame. Pillows, sheets and blankets are available if you don’t bring your own. There is an expandable wood table/desk with two chairs for work/dining. Also a leather lounge/reading chair in room, as well as a couple small end tables. Has large two door closet in bedroom as well as additional storage in apartment. Two windows in bedroom, one with access to fire escape which has a security gate, and another with provided air-conditioner.

Hardwood floors throughout apartment. Bedroom has lock and key. Walls in bedroom are white and grey with a blue accent wall, but painting to your liking is allowed.

Small but stocked kitchen has fridge, oven/gas stove, microwave, and plenty of empty cabinet space. I have pots and pans, cast iron skillet and Dutch oven, all sorts of utensils, Kitchenaid mixer, blender, food processor etc which roommate is free to use, but there is also plenty of space to store your own stuff if you have. Generally have cooking oils, spices and food staples on hand which roommate is welcome to use.

One bathroom which we would share when I’m in town. Good bath/shower, always have hot water and pressure. Towels and basics(toilet paper, soap, toothpaste etc) are on hand if you need.

Living room is in front of apartment but sectioned off by floor to ceiling curtains and shelving. Living room serves as my bedroom some of the time but is generally available for hanging out or entertaining. There is a “75 hdtv on wall, PlayStation, guitars and amp, bike rack, dumbbells, yoga mats, and boxing heavy bag. And of course seating and a coffee table.

Fast wi-fi (300 bps) with router and streaming for tv. Have printer/scanner and paper shredder.

The whole apartment has a varied color scheme and a funky esthetic using solid accent walls as well as multi hued textures. Again, changes in this regard are welcome.

You enter the building with keys through two doors. No doorman but there are security cameras at entrance and in hallways. Apartment is on third floor(two flights up) and there is no elevator whatsoever.

Main caveat is that this is situated in a loud part of the neighborhood. On busy street adjacent to elevated train and busy street traffic. Near bars, clubs and music venues so pretty lively on weekends at night.

The building is mid 20th century. Mostly modern and well maintained but some signs of wear. Comfortable but not a brand new luxury place.

I’m a fairly neat and clean person, but tolerant of the place looking lived and entertained in…hopefully a roommate would share in cleaning chores somewhat regularly.

I’m a creative type (writer/actor) in his 40s, but any profile, interests, age or any other demographics are totally welcome…mostly I’m looking for someone reasonable and responsible.

I’m 420 friendly but in the process of quitting smoking cigarettes. Generally I don’t drink but very occasionally. However I’m very nonjudgmental of whatever lifestyle one has, and will adapt to the preferences of the roommate. If you’re looking for a mellow, private, health conscious atmosphere that’s great. If you’re more of a social, party person that’s also great within reason. Our neighbors in the building are mostly young professionals and artist types, and right now everyone is pretty quiet and respectful but friendly.

As I said I’m intending to be out of the city much of the term of the sublet. When I’m around I like to cook and entertain. I work and sleep odd, inconsistent hours. That said, I would be malleable to the schedule needs of the roommate…if you work early or remotely I’d be accommodating in keeping things quiet.

In general, communication is key.

I have no pets at present, but they are allowed in the building and welcome here if you do.

Looking for a two month sublet until lease is out and I move out by January. For the right person it’s an excellent deal! Utilities are included and move in date could be sooner if needed.

About This Lister

He/him. Sis white guy but seriously no preference as to race/gender/age/profession of roommate. I’m a creative/working stiff/part time student type guy in his 40s. I write and act a little, but mostly I’m working odd gigs like PA or Art Department in film production, or even humbler things like delivery or pet care jobs.
I’m a decent home cook, a reader, a film buff and a gamer(video, card, or board variety) and periodically pick up new pastimes. People person but usually pretty quiet. Alternatively very busy or very lazy.
I have a teenage son in Kentucky I like to spend time with as often as I can, which is why I’m trying get a roommate to have some flexibility. I also have a sail/house boat in CA I like to escape to when I can. Next year I’ll be back at Hunter College, so this is my chance to take a break from nyc.
The main things I’d like from a roommate is being financially responsible(obviously), trustworthy and communicative so that I can step away with some piece of mind.

Lister's Relationship to the Space

I am the current tenant

Rental requirements

Pay first and deposit to move in. Utilities are included. If moving in later, will need a deposit to hold place.
We will draw up a sublet/roommate agreement to verify that you’re living here, so we’ll need ID to notarize. We will also confirm via e-mail.
Not looking for references, credit score or background check, but if you have any of that it can’t hurt.
You can pay with check, money order, or e-pay (Zelle, Venmo, CashApp) which all would serve as receipt. Cash is fine too and we’d compose a receipt.

Pets Policy

Cats and dogs allowed in the building. I am also ok with them.
