We are offering a beautiful and spacious bedroom in our beloved triplex brownstone home in Park Slope. Our current roommate is moving in with her partner, and the move-in date is May 1.

The room is large (roughly studio-sized) and easily fits a couch, desk area, at least two dressers, and bookshelves. The room comes furnished with a beautiful queen-size bed that we would like to leave there. It has large north-facing bay windows overlooking a beautiful tree-lined street, a decorative fireplace, and a new built-in air conditioner.

We are three women (ages 36–44) looking for a fourth woman (age 30–45) to join our shared lease. One of us is pursuing a humanities PhD at NYU, one works as an education developer, and the third works in climate policy. We share a love for the arts, literature, and mindful, intentional living.

Our home is our quiet sanctuary from the city: a warm, grounded space where everyone can recharge. We’re looking for someone who values calm, cleanliness, reliability, and open communication, and who brings curiosity, kindness, humor, and thoughtfulness to shared living.

Ideally, you’re familiar with the kind of conscious community work that makes a shared home feel good: very consistently taking part in chores, respecting shared spaces, and contributing to an atmosphere of ease, care, and thoughtfulness. This is not just shared housing to us, but an intentional and communicative home environment. We hope to be friends with the people we live with, while also respecting privacy and downtime.

Important! Please only reach out if:

- You already have high standards for cleanliness and tidiness, and actively maintain shared spaces in between deeper cleanings

- You are comfortable with direct, respectful communication around preferences, needs, and shared living

- You are someone who can kindly speak your mind and does not take house logistics or requests personally

- You very much enjoy being friendly and connected with the people you live with

- You are on the quiet side and generally keep an earlier bedtime during the week

- You have had positive experiences with conscious community housing in the past (a big plus)

- Please also only apply if you can comfortably afford the room long-term

- You are able to come by for an in-person house tour

- You are 30+ (no exceptions)

Partners are welcome to visit occasionally, but should not effectively "move in".

The house itself is a gem: three floors of historic detail with woodwork and stained glass. The ground floor includes a living room, dining room, large fully equipped kitchen, and a new back porch. Upstairs are four bedrooms, two newly renovated bathrooms, and a laundry room (only accessible during agreed hours, because it's adjacent to a bedroom).
We’re on a beautiful, tree-lined block in Park Slope, a 4-minute walk to the F/G train at 7th Avenue and 10 minutes to Prospect Park.

The lease would be taken over in May and renewed together in early September, so we are looking for someone interested in staying longer-term.

If this sounds like home, please write and tell us a bit about yourself: who you are, what you do, why you’re moving, what your work setup is like, and why you think you’d be a good fit.

Please mention “armadillos” in your message so we know you read to the end.

Sorry: no pets, no smoking, and looking for one roommate only.
