Are you an artist looking for a place to live and work in NYC short term? One of our regular residents is currently traveling, so we are seeking another shipmate for our international arts community from December 1 until April 1. The available room is spacious, high-ceilinged, and furnished with the essentials: a queen-size loft bed, large work desk with chair and shelves, loveseat, and closet, plus a tiny painting nook equipped with an easel. There are two bathrooms in the house, Wi-Fi, central AC/heating, and a washer/dryer. Shared living room and kitchen; all utilities included. Big bonus: an enormous roof deck!
Location: 4 blocks from Greenpoint Avenue subway station on G train, 15-min walk from Vernon Blvd on 7-train (1 stop to Grand Central Station). 20-30 minutes to Manhattan by bike (and yes, we have an extra one you can use!) Plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars are only steps away.
Mothership NYC is an international artist collective and residency/presentation space for international artists across multiple disciplines. Our converted industrial loft has three rooms for permanent crew members and two spaces for shorter-term visitors. Once a month or thereabouts, we invite fellow artists and other creatives/cultural workers for a salon-style gathering where you can present your work to a very receptive audience. During the warm months, we use the roof deck as a stage for collaborative art productions across several disciplines.
We are looking for a fellow creative -- international a plus! The rest of the household consists of Captain Sol, a painter, + a rotating cast of visiting artists. Most of the time, we are five sailors total onboard, typically ranging in age from mid-20s to early 50s. Over the years, we have hosted many amazing talents on our platform; we invite you to check out Google reviews from former artists-in-residence below.
There is a deposit of $100 to hold the space and make sure you clean up after yourself upon departure.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
