(Priority would go to someone willing to swap for an apartment or house on the Eastside of LA!)
I am subletting my sunny and fully furnished apartment in Clinton Hill for while I am out of town for roughly two months. The start date is flexible; I will likely be gone for roughly 6-8 weeks total. I am looking for one or two people who are willing to water my plants while I'm gone.
About the space: The one-bedroom apartment is very large for the area, with hardwood floors, high ceilings, and tall windows in both the living room and bedroom. The kitchen was re-done recently, with new appliances, including a small dishwasher, and washer/dryer (!). The bathroom is small but clean and bright. There is a sunny fire escape with views of the Empire State Building, if you're willing to brave climbing out the window in the cold.
About the furnishings: The apartment will come fully furnished, with a queen-sized bed, large library of books, smart TV (Netflix, HBO Max), record player and records, and a handful of plants. All the basics -- bedding, towels, coffee, soap, etc. -- will be ready and waiting.
About the location: The apartment is in an old building (serviceable, clean, though nothing to write home about) with a creaky but convenient elevator, located steps from the Clinton/Washington C train. The G train and several buses are also within blocks. Both Fort Greene Park and Prospect Park are roughly a 15-minute walk away, and there are countless great restaurants (Sisters, Locanda Vini e Olii, Emily, The Fly, Aita), bars (Hops Hill, Rhodora), cafes (Prima, Guevara's), and grocery stores (Mr. Kiwi!) within blocks as well. Getting to Manhattan via the C train takes about 15 minutes, making this the perfect home-base to explore the city. I wouldn't necessarily describe the block as extremely quiet (though it isn't a main thoroughfare), but the bedroom faces away from the street, so I've never had any issues with noise.
About the sublet: The rent is $2,900 per month, which includes all utilities, and a cleaner for before you arrive and after you leave. As mentioned above, I am especially interested in an apartment swap with someone from the eastside of Los Angeles -- ideally in the Mount Washington vicinity.
Pets are sadly not allowed (the dogs in the photos were visitors!), and smoking of any kind is also a no-go.
I'm Lisa, a single woman (she/her) who has lived in this apartment as a renter for 5 years. I'm originally from California, but have lived both abroad and on the East Coast in the last decade.
While I have no pets, I regularly have friends' dogs visit, so my apartment is likely not entirely allergen-free. I will be out of town while you're here, but am responsive via phone and have a network of friends nearby who can provide help as needed.
If you are interested, please send me an email with the following information:
1) Whether you're able to do an apartment swap
2) A description of yourself: who you are, where you're coming from, etc.
3) Your desired dates
4) Your contact information
5) Anything else you deem relevant!
