Internship
New York City
Brooklyn, New York City
$17/h

My name is Dominik Tarabański, and I’m an artist working between fine art and commercial fields. I’m also the Creative Director of a Parisian jewelry brand. I’m looking for a studio intern with a proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and a serious commitment to learning.

Working on multiple projects simultaneously, I operate at a fast and often highly demanding creative pace. This requires focus, flexibility, and daily multitasking.

I keep myself busy and expect the same from the people I work with. I guarantee hands-on experience and active involvement across a wide range of projects, including upcoming exhibitions, commissioned work, and ongoing studio practice. You can learn more about my work at my site below.

ONGOING HIGH-PRIORITY PROJECTS

— upcoming exhibition, January 2026, San Francisco
— upcoming exhibition, Spring/Summer 2026, New York
— upcoming exhibition, Autumn/Winter 2026, Paris
— photo book publication project in progress
— daily studio practice, production tasks, and studio visits

WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR AND MUST-HAVES

— strong work ethic, discipline, and the same hunger to learn that I expect from myself
— genuine interest in art, photography, design, and visual culture
— ideally an art school student or recent graduate with a hands-on, practical orientation
— high level of attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication etiquette
— natural readiness to interact with collaborators and people around the studio
— comfort with manual, physical tasks and learning to use new tools when needed
— valid driving license and confidence driving in New York City
— proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign
— basic working knowledge of Premiere Pro or similar tools

RESPONSIBILITIES

— hands-on assistance in the studio, including exhibition production and preparation
— photo shoot production work
— help with project-related research and practical problem-solving
— project-related errands and tasks around the city
— working primarily alongside me in my Brooklyn atelier
— some tasks can be done remotely when appropriate

LOGISTICS

Hopefully, this gives you a clear sense of the scope of work and the range of tasks connected to each project. This is a flexible-time, hybrid position, starting with a half-time trial period of approximately three months. If it’s a good mutual fit, this internship may evolve into a studio assistant role in the future.

BENEFITS

School credit may be available depending on your institution. You’ll gain direct, hands-on experience within an active New York–based art practice, with insight into exhibitions, production, and the day-to-day realities of working as an independent artist. I’m also happy to support your development through guidance, feedback, and, when appropriate, access to studio tools or resources as part of that learning process.

About Us

Polish-born artist and visual artist Dominik Tarabański lives and works in New York City. His work explores the tension between impermanence and control, often blending sculptural elements with photographic composition. His recent projects, Roses for Mother and Little Roses, have been presented in New York at WSA during Design Week in a special exhibition curated with Karen Wong, former Deputy Director of the New Museum, and at Ross + Kramer Gallery, New York, USA. Earlier iterations of the project have been exhibited at 6x7 Gallery in Warsaw (European representation), the gallery at the National Philharmonic Hall in Szczecin, and the Centre for Contemporary Art Zitadelle Spandau in Berlin.

Tarabański’s works are part of private collections in New York, Paris, Berlin, Hong Kong, London, Brussels, Arles, Warsaw, and Tokyo, including the private collection of Cindy Chua-Tay in Hong Kong.

He has guest lectured at the Polish National Film School in Łódź and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and has taught at the Academy of Photography in Kraków. He graduated with degrees in Photography from the Department of Cinematography at the Polish National Film School (Łódź) and from the Academy of Photography (Warsaw).

In parallel to his fine art practice, Tarabański is the creative director of Gentle Storm, a Parisian jewelry project through which he explores the confluence of emotional clarity, design culture, and material storytelling.

He always welcomes studio visits at his atelier in Brooklyn.
