We are currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and flexible substitute teachers to join our on-call teaching team. This is a part-time role ideal for individuals with availability during weekday mornings and afternoons, especially those who can occasionally step in at the last minute due to staff illness or emergency.
Who You Are:
• A kind, grounded, and open-minded individual with a deep respect for children and their natural development
• Experienced working with young children (ages 2–5) and eager to continue growing as an educator and caregiver
• Able to adapt quickly to different classroom environments, routines, and teaching teams
• Comfortable maintaining consistency and structure while being responsive to the needs of each unique group
• Punctual, organized, and dependable—you follow through and are ready to support where needed
• Passionate about outdoor learning and nature-based experiences in all seasons and in all weather
• Ideally live in or near Ridgewood, Queens and are available on short notice when needed
Responsibilities:
• Support the lead and assistant teachers in maintaining a peaceful, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
• Uphold classroom routines, boundaries, and expectations that reflect wBees’ Montessori and nature-based approach
• Ensure the health, safety, and supervision of all children—indoors and outdoors—at all times
• Embody and model core values of empathy, curiosity, independence, and care for others and the natural world
• Online training, fingerprinting and background checks will be required after trial period
This Role is a Great Fit If You:
• Have a flexible schedule (e.g. freelance, part-time, or gig-based work) and are available during school hours (typically between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
• Are looking to gain hands-on experience in early childhood education, particularly within Montessori and forest school settings
