Background and Expertise

March April is a community art studio and worker cooperative, founded in November 2024. We create flexible, sliding scale access to thoughtfully designed studio space in central Los Angeles. Our team includes:

Somi Jun (they/them), Director, is a writer and educator from Los Angeles, with degrees from Princeton University and UC Irvine. You can find writing by Jun in Phoebe, Gidra, The Margins, and Poets.org. They have been teaching essay-writing to high school and college-aged students since 2016.

Bhavani Srinivas (they/she), Studio Manager, makes sculptures, fiber installations, prints, and books. These objects often explore the myths of the motherland that are imagined by people living in diaspora; scientific racism; and the Tamil language. She also co-runs a small press called Corners cutoff, which has a focus on publishing multi-lingual collaborations.

Maj Roshandel (they/them), Community Relationships Steward, makes experimental prints and jewelry informed by family archives, MENA and SWANA gendered resistance movements around the world, and local organizing within Los Angeles.
