We are looking for one person to sign a four month sublease, with potential to extend, on a room in a 4-bed, 1-bath apartment in Crown Heights. The total rent is $3450: and we are looking for someone to take over the third room for $1185 ( it has two windows and room for furniture, and semi-furnished if wanted). The fourth room is used as a shared office/guest room. Utilities aren't included, but cost between $60-100 per person per month (with AC in the summer, the ConEd bill goes up). The apartment is furnished, but feel free to come with furniture and a shared eye for decorating!
The apartment is on the 4th floor of a walk-up building. It’s a 7-minute walk to the 2/3/4/5 Franklin Ave stop, a 5-minute walk to the shuttle on Park Place, near multiple bus lines, and a Citibike dock is around the corner. There's roof access, and a laundromat across the street. The neighborhood has a lot of great bars, coffee shops, and restaurants, and both Brower Park and Prospect Park are a little farther away.

About This Lister

About us:

Y is , a black, queer (they/she), born and raised New Yorker working as a freelance dancer. I have a full-time, mostly in-person job. I’m mindful of COVID, especially around travel and spikes in cases. I’m vegan and an early riser, but you don’t have to be. I’m very neat in shared spaces and would love it if you were too. In my free time, I’m a pretty quiet roommate but I’m down to hang out sometimes or keep to myself to recharge. I love taking (and teaching!) yoga classes, reading, and trying all sorts of food around the city.

R is , queer (she/they) originally from California and in New York getting a master’s degree in Library Science and French. If I’m not out at school, I’m most likely at home doing homework •.•, or maybe out and about. I’m real crafty - big love for fiber arts and trinkets. I value coziness, communication, and mutual respect. I really like to cook when I can, talk on the phone with my loved ones from afar, and do puzzles when I’ve got the time. I’m happy to connect, or not; I’m pretty easy going.

Rental requirements

It's important to us that we all feel comfortable and responsible for the apartment, keeping shared spaces clean regularly, buying household items when needed, and taking the initiative to reach out to the landlord if necessary. I’m happy to talk about and figure out whatever systems would make things feel easiest!
Move in costs: There’s an application fee of $20, and a deposit of one month’s rent is required.

About you: We looking for people who are direct communicators and down to create a cozy, relaxing home. Ideally, you’re in your mid-20s to early 30s with proof of a stable income (40x rent + good credit, or a guarantor who makes 80x rent). If you’re not also queer and/or BIPOC, please be comfortable living with someone who is.

Let me know about yourself, your ideal living situation, and then we’ll find time to meet!
