Hello!
My name is Mel and I'm looking to sublet a room in my Bushwick apartment. I've lived here for 15 years, enjoying watching Brooklyn change, and am excited to bring someone in our back room.
Perfect for someone who may be in a transition mode, new to NYC, or looking for a very chill place to stay and save money. Great for an introvert who also loves to say good morning and chit-chat here and there. Ron, the landlord, is very efficient in getting things handled, and I'm always in contact with him.
I work as a remote social media strategist and copywriter and love watching TV, taking walks, and listening to music during my downtime. My hope is that this person will really find solace and peace in my apartment, will be responsible for paying rent on time, and also keep the room in good shape while enjoying their time living there.
About the room:
-Back of Apartment (near my main bedroom)
-The room is bright white with one window that lets in a great amount of light. This room is next to mine, but also has the deepest closet. (This was my room when I first moved here with friends, so I love it and think the subtenant will too!)
- The room is unfurnished, and you can have a window A/C that you'll need to purchase for the summer if you'd like.
More about the area:
Plenty of bodegas in the area, and within walking distance from Santa Maria Park. We also have a backyard you can enjoy whenever you want, with a closed gate entrance to ensure security. I go back there a lot with the neighbors when they grill; we're all pretty close and cool.
Amenities:
$1175 includes utilities (WiFi, Gas, Electricity)
-3 Units in the entire apartment (we're the only ones on the 2nd floor)
-Walkable area, rooftop jazz bar connected to the building (Ornithology), a library in Bushwick, and a few small bars are around
-Café connected to the building (Orinthology Cafe)
-Community/Family area
-Ron (cool landlord)
-420 Friendly (in the backyard)
-NO cigarettes inside the building, but we have a backyard
-NO pets allowed
-NO shoes allowed in the house (that includes guests)
-We’re under the J/M/Z train
We’re also 5 blocks from the train and very conveniently placed between Myrtle-Broadway and Kosciuszko stops (I prefer Myrtle-Broadway).
The tenant moving in would share the bathroom in the hall, as I have one in my room.
Ron, our landlord, doesn’t live in the building but lives close by.
We have a really nice-sized living room and a lovely couch. You can bring your own pots and pans, and we can make space, but no furniture for the living room is needed unless you're bringing a dining table.
Guests are fine as long as they respect the bathroom and living room, and are only here when the roommate is as well.
I look forward to meeting you all! I'll be accepting the first person that is ready with first month's rent and security deposit.
I'm from Maryland and moved here in 2010 for an internship, and haven't left yet. I love this apartment and the area and really love NYC. I'm a social media strategist and also run my own beauty blog (so if you're into makeup, I'm your girl). I love nature and dogs. I'm a Virgo (in case that matters lol) and usually play my music loud on Friday nights but other than that, I'm pretty chill.
