We’re looking for 1 more artist who would like to share our new DTLA art studio in the Spring Arts Building (above the Last Bookstore).
The space is approximately 1,022 SqFt total, and you will be sharing with 3 artists. We’re renting the last space which is about 250sq ft. There are three spaces currently divided by tall shelves. The middle space is available. We are open to ideas for partitioning for more privacy. There is a fourth space that is enclosed (rented), with a smaller footprint.
The good:
- The light in the studio is absolutely incredible. You have to see it for yourself.
- Free electricity and AC
- Lots of windows that open!
- The owners are very accommodating and we could add things such as partition walls, 3-phase power (possibly a kiln?), and customize as we want.
- The location is very convenient if you are downtown, close by or near public transit. There are lots of food and coffee options close by.
- 24/7 Access
- Beautiful natural light on the fourth floor, with elevators. Did I mention the light?
- Plenty of clean bathrooms
Some considerations:
- There is no parking in the building, so we have to deal with street/lot parking. Public transit or getting access to a garage downtown might be helpful, and street parking hasn’t been too bad.
- There is a freight elevator and alley for load in, but needs to be accessed during normal office hours with the property managers
- The slop sink is on a different floor outside the studio. But there are many bathrooms on our floor for water access.
Please respond to this ad with a little about yourself, your art/medium, whether you have experience in a shared studio, anything else you might like us to know.
I’m Alec (he/him) a sculptor, I primarily sculpt in clay and make portraits. I make molds/cast in plaster/gypsum. I have the enclosed space within the total area, so clay/plaster dust shouldn’t spill over to anyone else’s space.
Max (they/them) is from NYC and moved to LA in 2023. Over the last year they have focused on puppets and wild sculpture. I’m not doing them justice, so I’ll let them introduce themselves to anyone interested!
Third is Oscar, who has a photography practice. Will also let them introduce themselves!
Must be respectful. Looking for move-in ASAP. No credit check, but def a vibe check.
