Sunny, top floor, furnished railroad apartment in a five floor walk-up with exposed brick, wood floors, skylight bathroom and windows overlooking tree-lined 21st Street. Light-filled, clean and airy, the apartment is located in the heart of Chelsea, close to shopping on 8th Avenue, galleries and restaurants west of 9th Avenue. Past 10th Avenue is the High Line, Chelsea Piers and parks along the Hudson River. The Whitney Museum of American Art and Hudson Yards are within walking distance. A laundromat is conveniently located next door. The apartment is close to the E and C subway lines and the 23rd Street crosstown bus and Citibike locations. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are only a few blocks away. One person is preferable. No pets. NOTE: Sublet start and end dates are flexible by a few days.
I am an artist, teacher and Life Art Coach. I've lived in the apartment, which I rent, since 1998. The space reflects my interests as an artist, student of psychoanalysis and long-time New Yorker. Several neighbors in the building are friends. I have a small cabin in far West Texas, south of Marfa, along the US-Mexico border, where I make art; and I spend part of my summers on the west side of Zion National Park, Utah. I travel often to Atlanta where I work collaboratively with another artist. I am the contact person for the subtenant. I prefer the pronouns he/him.
Two references are required. The guest will cover the utilities (gas, electric, Wifi). A sublease will be provided. A security deposit equal to the subrental amount is also required. It will be returned, less utilities and cleaning, if necessary, and any damages to the apartment or its contents.
