Large private room in peaceful second floor apartment. Free rent, utilities, good wifi connection and filtered water in exchange for help with my sweet dog, Ishby, and some help with basic things after I have hip surgery.
Ishby is an adorable, sweet pit bull terrier with a gentle soul. She's never ever aggressive with people, and with dogs she only wants to play or sniff, but she doesn't like to be barked at. She gets along well with other dogs who are easygoing and don't mind her awkward play style.
I'm having hip replacement surgery on October 14th. I'd like to find a roommate who can, mostly, stay close to home. I could potentially find other help if you need to go out occasionally (and going out before my surgery is no problem).
Before my surgery I can do some of Ishby's walks and feedings, but need to get more sleep, and appreciate help with some of Ishby's walks / feedings. But most important is during and after Oct 14th.
I'll arrange a visiting nurse / physical therapist and some other people who can stop by to help also, but I'd rather not be alone much after surgery.
I'd love to find someone who can stay through the end of November, but if you're interested and can only stay for part of this timeframe, please still reach out.
We're in eastern Queens, with nearby green spaces, an outdoor mini-gym, near the Queens Farm Museum. It's more quiet and peaceful out here than other parts of NYC.
The apartment has a terrace, comfy living room, small but big enough kitchen, bathroom with shower and bathtub, A/C in the big bedroom and also living room, and a zillion channels on the TV. Small washer/dryer in the kitchen, and good water filter.
There's two rooms available - the room I'd most like to fill is big, with dressers, mirror, TV, air conditioner, large comfy bed, and two windows. That would ideally be for someone (or a couple), who is OK with staying here most of the time after I have surgery. No problem to have a few guests you trust visit sometimes.
The other room is small, with desk, window, bookshelf. It's currently a storage space and I could clear out most things, but not all. That room can fit a twin mattress or air mattress on the floor. The living room couch has a pull out futon also. If there's two roommates, you both could coordinate timing and there would be more ability to go out.
Union Turnpike has some stores, restaurants, buses. Beautiful Alley Pond Park is nearby.
I have a bike you're welcome to ride. (It may need some repair / tires inflated / seat raised)
Second floor apartment, carpeted staircase with railing, one flight of steps up. Grab bars on the doorway and in the bathroom.
I'm respectful, easygoing, and will be profoundly grateful for your help.
If you love dogs and this arrangement sounds like a good fit to you, please reach out soon!
I'm 50 years young, easy to get along with. I don't mind clutter but will keep the common spaces / kitchen clean. I love nature, learning, reading, writing, getting to know interesting people, building bridges between ideas, music, dancing (looking forward to being more active after surgery!), and of course, dogs.
There are some musical instruments here (Vast handpan, Djembe drum, singing bowls, and piano (not recently tuned).
Open to a very easygoing female dog. It's a pet-friendly area, and Ishby gets along with super-chill dogs. (But she doesn't like to be barked at).
