The perfect little Didion-inspired bungalow in Echo Park, available for sublet in August only. Meticulously remodeled in 2023 - with design choices that call back California of the 1960’s and 70’s - this home feels both new and vintage at the same time. Completely furnished!
**I had originally planned to have this available AUG + SEPT, but had to scale it back due to a job bringing me back to LA. I have some flexibility on the start and end dates. Figured I would still list it even though one month only is short**
A freestanding house to yourself with wonderful places to hang, sit, relax and get work done. The living room has french doors that open onto your own private patio, gorgeous wood windows, a sectional sofa and 1960s Westnova lounge chair. There is a pulldown screen and projector for movies.
The kitchen has a generous central peninsula and a built in breakfast nook with windows that face out to the city. Rift white oak cabinets, caesar stone counters, heath tile backsplash, dishwasher drawers, GE + Fisher Paykel appliances.
Down a small arched walkway is the bathroom + bedroom. The bathroom has a fully tiled bathtub / shower combo and large vanity. The bedroom has a firm queen size bed (room and board encased coil) plenty of closet space - a Frame TV and two large windows with black out shades.
Out front you have a private deck and palm tree lined patio - both overlooking DTLA.
I own this property and remodeled this unit with design help from Slow Dust Studio. This front house is my own house, which I rarely rent out. There is a back house which is rented to long term tenants. Street parking in this part of Echo Park is (surprisingly) not an issue. Access to the house does require walking up the driveway and up a few small sets of stairs.
This house is tucked into a hillside one block above Glendale Blvd. It feels open and spacious to the front view and also very private on the sides and back. We are located five blocks south of Echo Park Lake, a short walk to Vista Hermosa Park and just steps away from the Echo Park Village complex on Glendale Blvd: Clark Street Bakery, Gra Pizza, One Down Dog Yoga, Laveta Coffee and many more shops.

I'm a documentary filmmaker splitting time between LA, New York and Seattle. I also buy and fix up old homes, most of which are now long term rentals.
Exact rental dates are flexible. I'm will be away for work and spending time with family in Seattle. I'm seeking the kind of renters who will understand just how important this home is to me and will treat it like their own.
Rent is $3,000 for the month, which includes utilities and wifi. I will ask for a $2,000 security deposit and the one month payment to rent.
I'm open to renters with small dogs, but I will reserve the right to know more about the dog and will likely ask for additional security deposit. The deck and patio area can be fenced in.
