My name is Toby Singer, LMSW. I'm a licensed therapist and theatermaker based in New York City, specializing in supporting artists, performers, designers, and other creatives. I'm currently accepting new clients for telehealth therapy. You can read more about my practice here.
I offer an LGBTQ+ affirming and trauma-informed environment that focuses on relevant areas of concerns including performance anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, identity development, and navigating the pressures of an uncertain career path. My flexible style draws from both creative and healing traditions, including AEDP, psychodynamic theory, CBT, DBT, somatic techniques, mindfulness-based interventions, and humanism.
Sessions are $225 for a 50 min session, and I do offer a sliding scale. My group practice, The Moses Collaborative can provide a super bill for out-of-network reimbursement.
Hi Listings Project community!
I'm an Ann Arbor-born musician and theatermaker who came to therapy work from my work as an artist coach. While my work focused on fundraising and strategy, after the pandemic happened, the conversations I had with artistic people shifted from the nuts and bolts of a grant application to bigger questions like "How does one actually be an artist in this time?" These topics led me eventually to social work school.
As a working artist myself, I enjoy getting to support creative folks, both as a therapist with the skills that entails, but also as a fellow artistic traveler: someone who has been through the ups and downs of a creative career and can speak to these matters from direct experience.
I received my MSW from NYU Silver School of Social Work. I've also been coaching artists for years, on topics including fundraising, strategy, and career direction.
As a therapist, I'm supervised by Yuval Moses, LCSW and work as part of the Moses Collaborative.
