Looking for a roommate in shared apartment on 134th and Amsterdam in NYC.
Rent is $1050/mo., month-to-month, utilities included (electricity, gas, water, internet). $25 per month extra when you use an A/C unit (regardless of use). Move-in date July 1, slightly flexible with advance planning.
Room is unfurnished. Fits a full bed, small shelf and small desk/chair. Closet has a clothes rod and internal shelves.
Shared office space, bathroom, living/dining room and kitchen. Full kitchen with shared fridge, gas stove, dishwasher, small appliances, and cookware. Laundry in building basement.
Room area (excluding closet and door): ~10ft x7ft
Closet area: ~2ft x 4ft
Ceiling height: ~9ft throughout apartment
Apartment is on the second floor of a five-floor walk-up. Small flight of stairs to enter the building and two flights to get to the apartment.
Centrally located neighborhood near several uptown hubs (City College, Riverbank State Park, West Harlem Piers, St. Nicholas Park, Columbia University, etc.). It's a 5-10-minute walk to the 1 train (137th St) and a 15-minute walk to the A/B/C/D trains (125th St). Usually takes 30-40 minutes to get into Midtown and around an hour to get to Brooklyn.
I'm a 32-year-old cis-het man (he/him/his), been in NYC around four years, originally from Colorado. I work as a journalist, usually a hybrid 9am-5:30pm schedule. I enjoy a relatively quiet life and spend much of my free time cooking, exercising (running, swimming, inline skating) drawing, playing guitar, and dancing. I'm LGBTQ friendly and also speak several languages (French, Spanish, and some Hindi).
I'm looking for a roommate who is clean, communicative and respectful. Would prefer any heavy substance use, large gatherings or loud activities happen outside of the apartment.
I'll ask for details about your living habits, communication styles and income source(s), plus references from previous roommates/landlords and a basic rental agreement. Otherwise much of the relationship will be built on trust and mutual investment in the space.
I am a current subtenant.
First month's rent, security deposit, rental agreement
