We are looking for someone to take over our lease Feb 1 2026 for our cozy East Village Duplex. This apartment is a gem in the East Village. It’s dog friendly and half a block from Tompkins Square Park and its fantastic dog run. The neighborhood is vibrant, walkable, and has some of the best bars, restaurants, and cafes just around the corner. Uniquely the apartment is _very quiet_ as it is on the top floor and doesn’t face the street and only one wall is shared with the neighbors, so you get all the convenience of being right in the heart of the East Village but when you are home you can decompress. This is not your standard duplex, the second floor is really about getting to your private roof deck, but we've turned the top unit into a cozy work and lounge corner. The main star is the roof deck and larger roof top, with a clear view of the Williamsburg Bridge. You have 360 degree views of Manhattan and there’s nothing like brewing a cup of coffee and going to the roof deck to take in the morning light and views, and smells from our herb garden that we’ve installed.
We have made many renovations and improvements to the apartment and are looking for someone who would be interested in the renovations and paying us for the furnishings, equipment, and renovations we’d leave behind. The apartment is very cozy and has unique dimensions so we got very creative in furnishing the apt. We’ve created many built-ins for storage (fits a surprising amount) as well as working and lounging that would save you a lot of hassle to try to recreate. This would be ideal for one person, or a couple. Though most of the new renters in the building turn the living room into a second bedroom, ymmv:)
One note about this apt, it is a 6th floor walk up, which is not for everyone. But the building is a gem – we’re friends with many neighbors, and people look out for each other. No worries about hearing anyone day or night, no pest issues, or missing packages. The units do well to keep in the heat during the winter. Also, having a second floor in the summer means excess heat goes up, and keeps the main floor cool. It’s nice to open the deck door for fresh air, and we have a curtain style screen to keep any flies out. We also have cooling units to use during the summer, but this last summer they weren’t turned on once.
If you’re interested in seeing the apartment, please drop a line.
I’m the best friend of the leaseholder – helping them find someone to take over while they’re out of town.
