Position Overview
Art Omi is seeking a part-time seasonal Visitor Services Associate to support the visitor experience at the Art Omi Sculpture & Architecture Park. The Visitor Services Associate helps to cultivate a welcoming environment for visitors of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Visitor Services Associates must be able to multitask and handle a large volume of interaction with the public.
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Welcoming: Greet visitors of diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds, and engage with them about Art Omi’s exhibitions, programs, and history. Register visitors and encourage them to join the email list and memberships. Encourage dog registration. Encourage visitors to enjoy artworks in the gallery and park, while not touching or climbing artworks
- Events: Support events by greeting visitors, managing the parking lot, and other event tasks as needed. Serve visitors in the cafe during regular park hours and special events, including summer series Friday & Saturday nights (5:30-8 pm) beer/wine/alcohol free beverages.
- Sell and maintain cafe and merchandise inventory, and fulfill online orders
- Assist visitors and provide information in-person, online, and by telephone
- Drive golf carts for visitors with mobility limitations
- Open and close the Newmark Gallery including exhibition equipment; Walk the park to answer visitors’ questions, collect trash, and monitor the condition of the artworks
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the Benenson Visitors Center, including the bathroom, cafe, gallery and entryways in between professional cleanings
- Keep map holders full, maintain a complete selection of promotional materials for visitors
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- An outgoing, friendly, and professional demeanor
- A willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, in a variety of weather conditions
- A willingness to educate themselves on all things Art Omi (including events, exhibitions, and history) and enthusiastically share that knowledge with visitors of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities
- Previous experience in customer-facing roles is preferred
- Proficiency and/or willingness to learn and use: CRM, Google Docs, Mac OS, and possibly other administrative software as needed.

Schedule & Compensation
- 16-24 hours per week; includes most weekends, Friday/Saturday until 8 PM
- Compensation $19 per hr
- Potential to expand to a full-time position in the future.
Work Environment
What follows is a general description of expectations for the work environment. We are open to making modifications to support people of all abilities whenever feasible.
This is an onsite position 2-3 days a week, requiring weekends. The work will take place both indoors and outdoors in the Sculpture & Architecture Park and Benenson Visitors Center. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will usually be in a public environment which is sometimes crowded and the noise level in the work environment is often moderate or noisy. The position requires periods of standing. Regular computer and iPad use will be required. This position also requires regular moving of boxes of maps, merchandise, and other materials up to 30-40 lbs with or without assistance. The Benenson Visitors Center is a wheelchair accessible building. There are about 2-4 public events per month.
