PLEASE NOTE: PET CARE REQUIRED FOR THIS SUBLET
This spacious, sunny, plant-filled top-floor apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant combines classic Brooklyn brownstone charm with modern comforts. Fully furnished with a dishwasher and a portable washing machine, this place is off the A/C subway and perfect for one person or a couple. Great wfh setup, with plenty of space and sunlight, and fast, reliable internet. All utilities included.
In a classic brownstone building, this apartment retains a lot of historic character. It has high ceilings, two decorative fireplaces, and the original parquet floors.
South-facing windows in the kitchen and living room get great sun, even in winter. The spacious bedroom faces north, which is perfect for sleeping (it also has blackout Roman shades). Unusually, the bedroom spans the full width of the building, taking up the footprint of what is, in most brownstones, usually two bedrooms or a bedroom and an office room.
Sublet term:
• December 14, 2025-March 15, 2026 (some flexibility in the end date)
A few important things to note:
• I will need you to care for my very chill, sweet cat from December 14-January 5. A friend will come to the apartment to pick up my cat on January 5. I'm discounting my rent by $200/month for the 3-month duration of the sublet in light of the cat care.
• I will be on a through-hike from December 20-March 1, during which time I will only have cell or internet connectivity when I pass through towns every week (ish). There is a neighbor in the building who will serve as a point of contact during your stay. I need a subletter who is comfortable with this and who can problem-solve small day-to-day things that may arise
• Because of my hike, I'm not very open to shortening this sublet. I would prefer to find someone interested in staying for the whole period, or at least until I finish the trail on March 1. However, extending the sublet term further into March (possibly even to the end of the month) may be possible
• As you can see, my place is full of plants, and I'll also need you to do some light plant care: once a week watering, and generally keeping an eye on growth
• Building has no buzzer
• The bed is full size
• As the building has no super, you'll also be responsible for some occasional "outdoor" maintenance tasks. In winter, this really just means bringing your own trash and recycling down to the curb, and taking turns with the other tenants salting/shoveling when it snows
• There's a fire house on the block; you will sometimes hear sirens. Other than that, it's a pretty quiet side street
• Rent has been discounted to reflect the cat care through January 5, plant care, and "outdoor" stuff
Not deterred by any of that? Great! More details:
• Fully equipped kitchen with gas stove, microwave, and stand mixer, plus all the dishware, utensils, and glassware you could need
• Dishwasher
• Bedroom also has a desk and a sitting area with a cosy recliner
• Bathroom with bathtub and skylight

• TV
• Fully furnished
• Rent includes wifi, Netflix, Hulu, and all utilities
• There is a shared outdoor space (a small side yard with outdoor furniture) which you are welcome to use if desired. I realize this may not be much of a draw in winter, but it exists
• $200 cleaning fee
Accessibility:

• No parties or large gatherings

About you:
I've lived in this apartment almost a decade and value my relationships with my neighbors, so I need a subletter who is a good neighbor: mindful of noise, respectful of common spaces, and conscientious about garbage/recycling. We respect each other's space and privacy but aim to be considerate of each other as well. If we see someone else's package on the stoop, we bring it into the vestibule — that sort of thing.
If all this sounds good to you, let's talk.
NYC has been home to me for 17 years, and this apartment for the last nine. I LOVE this place and this neighborhood. I'm the tenant of this apartment and I'm looking to cover my rent while I'm visiting family and hiking my first through-hike.
