About this Service

Woodworking is as much about learning to fix your mistakes and finding the method that works for you as it is about making the perfect cut. In my own shop and with my students, I create an environment where we can delight in the material and learn at a slow pace. I offer several teen and adult workshops that can be found on my website, in addition to custom private and group workshops. I keep my classes to a maximum of three students at a time to ensure in-depth study of the material. Students will feel their time is valued and their questions are met with my full attention.

About this Lister

Hello! I am Michal, a furniture maker, educator and Brooklyn native. I launched my own shop last year after having worked in custom furniture and fabrication shops for the past seven years.

The shop is a place where you can be messy and loud, experiment with new ideas and challenge yourself technically. I feel this same type of excitement on the soccer field and hiking in the woods - two of my other passions. I would like my students to experience the presence, intensity and safety that this art form provides. I am thrilled to be able to create that space with you.

Background and Expertise

I trained under furniture maker Evan Hughes and have worked at various custom shops around the city. My shop is unique from other maker spaces in the city in that it is also an active furniture shop. Along with teaching, I design and fabricate custom furniture. I have been teaching more and more these last couple years and it has brought me so much joy - bringing others into the craft that is so central to me.
