The best part of a New York summer is a month spent upstate. Whether you're driving or taking the train (take the ferry across the river or we can arrange a driver), once you arrive, Mae House is the epitome of an upstate summer.
This three-bedroom, four-bed, three full bath home has been thoughtfully renovated with sustainability in mind—tile work by Fire Clay Tile (a B-corporation), efficient fixtures from Kohler, and an expert-selected palette of Farrow & Ball paints. Each room is carefully curated with hand-picked vintage pieces for comfort and style.
Mae House sits on one of the largest land parcels in the village—a secluded, five-lot property perfect for outdoor living, with a robust garden, private parking, and a community pool just a short walk away.
Location:
Heart of Athens Village, 17 minutes to Hudson, 10 minutes to Catskill, 45 minutes to Hunter/Windham. Accessible by a 2.5-hour drive or 2-hour Amtrak ride with Hudson River views.
Bedrooms:
Primary: Queen bed, en-suite soaking tub
Second: Full bed
Third: Unique bunk (queen bottom, full top) with baby rail available
All rooms feature Purple Mattresses, Dohm sound machines, and AC units.

I'm LaTonya Yvette, a Brooklyn-based writer and the author of Stand In My Window, Woman of Color, and The Hair Book. I've been sharing Mae House with other writers and creatives since 2021 as a place to slow down, write, and restore. I'm offering it for the month of June and in a work-transition and need to not worry about weekly rentals (while I'm in the city), and I hope it can be a sanctuary for you to rest and create upstate.
