☀️ Bright, furnished primary bedroom in East Village 3BR
📍 E 4 Street between 1 & 2 Ave
Happy New Year! I’m subletting a beautifully appointed, furnished, sunny primary bedroom in my beloved East Village home. IMO, this flat is ideal for someone seeking inspo, light, and luck in the best part of lower Manhattan.
🛏 Bedroom
This dreamy space gets beautiful natural light throughout the day. It’s furnished and comes with great fixins: desk, dresser, full bed with memory foam topper, nightstand, mirrors, an an unmatched (humble-brag) art book/poetry/philosophy/rare and small press lit-filled library. It's also decorated with (mostly) vintage posters from historic NYC venues. Think contemplative, creative, and curated ✨
🧯 Urban escape-cum-"lifehack"
Friends and neighbours frequently refer to ours as "the best fire escape in New York City." It truly is a magical alternative to a stoop/yard – we sip coffee there in the mornings, journal and read in the afternoon, and unwind with a drink or spliff at night after (or before) quintessential EV nights of adventure and merrymaking 🌇
🛁 Recently reno'ed
The kitchen and washroom are equipped with new appliances and fixtures (installed April 2025). (We also have lots of high-quality gear for actual/aspiring home chefs!) Our bathroom has beautiful stone- and tilework AND great water pressure, too (we count this amongst our blessings – it's NYC, after all) 🚿
🧑🤝🧑 Flat & flatmates
The space is shared with two kind, social impact-driven AMABs in their early 30s. One is a serial founder and inventor who's currently building a youth mental health startup; the other is a tech policy fellow, currently working on anti-militarisation at a global philanthropic organisation. House vibes are mellow and mindful — ideal for independent, respectful folx with a shared sense of care, community, good humour, and warmth.
The living room is a colourful, inviting hangout zone filled with books and records. There are A/C units in all rooms, we have gigabit wifi, and we even have a cinema-quality projector with an Amazon Firestick set up for home movie nights 📽
🚇 Location
We’re in the true heart of downtown/EV: <10 mins walking from LES, NoHo, and Nolita. There's easy access to tonnes of trains:
–2 Ave F
–1 Ave L
–Broadway-Lafayette B/D/F/M
–Astor Place 6
–8th Street N/R/W
–Bowery J/Z
Essex Market, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods are all easy walks; Tompkins Square Park is a hop-skip (one ave, two streets); and the Village herself provides infinite choice of beautiful bars, cosy cafés, Michelin-starred restaurants, and numerous "this city never sleeps" all-night bodegas, delis, pizza joints, and of course much much more (I'll share a Google list with all our faves and recs) 🏞️
💸 Rents & deets
$2,200 month (reduced! includes utilities and wifi)
$700/week/prorated for shorter stays
Dates: February 15—March 15, with possibility to extend. Pending fit, a lease takeover is also a possibility (current lease ends/renews April 30).
EDIT TO ADD: The space MAY be available February 1 or possibly even earlier, so please get in touch if you're interested even if your dates are slightly different than those in the listing!
Please send a short intro, what brings you to the EV/NYC, and your ideal dates/duration of stay in your reply.
This sweet space is a hospitable haven for friendly flatmates.
We're excited to meet you! 🫂
👋 I’m in my late 30s and am currently on sabbatical after leaving a strategy and venture-building role at a Big Five consulting firm.
For 2026, I'm taking a turn toward arts consulting and creative producing – currently fundraising for my first narrative feature film!
⌛ Before this chapter of life, I ran my own business; lived and worked abroad; and I've always traveled pretty constantly. I moved back to New York in early 2022. (More than sixty countries visited, and it's still the place that feels closest to my true home!)
❣️ I love art, film, literature, music, and theater; dancing, running, swimming, surfing, and yoga; and spending time with people who are curious, generous, kind, and unafraid of the constancy of change – people who are willing to reinvent themselves.
Screening call, references, signed sublet agreement, and $2200 security deposit required for monthly or longer lets. You'll receive keys upon receipt of rents and security deposit.
Weekly rates are slightly higher to reflect cleaning and turnover needs.
