We are looking for a cat-loving subletter for the primary bedroom in our Brooklyn loft from May 1st to November 1st, 2026.
THE DEETS
We live in a 900 square foot live/work in a 1930's industrial building in East Williamsburg, 2 blocks from the Morgan L train stop. We- Candace, John, and Al- are a married couple with a cat. Candace is spending the summer in the Catskills and John will be toggling back and forth between the city and country. This means you'll have one human roommate roughly 2 weeks of every month, and 1 full time cat roommate named Al. Al (as in Alfred or Albert) is a sweet middle-aged dude with a wonky mustache who loves to cuddle and tell you about his day, but is otherwise very chill. We would pay for all his food, litter and health needs, but you would be responsible for feeding and litterbox maintenance whenever John is away. We can drill down on specifics with the right candidate and make sure all co-responsibilities are reasonable and clear from the outset.
Room is smallish (roughly 8'x11.5') but has a window that overlooks our private porch garden. Bedroom includes a lofted space that can hold a full-sized bed, or be used for storage. We are open to however you want to rearrange or outfit the room-- BYO funiture or use ours- and we're happy to help facilitate if you have specific needs. We can also carve out space in the main room for creative projects or desk space. John works freelance in the city during the day, so if you're a remote worker this is a great WFH option.
Rent is 1600 a month, utilities included. This includes a discount of $350/month for semi-regular cat care. You're not stuck in town all summer, we can arrange alternate cat sitting on a case by case basis. Apartment is heated and cooled by electric minisplit with fast wifi. Laundromat is a block away. Decent street parking, lots of nightlife and restaurants/bars. Private back porch with perennial native plants. Elevator accessible from alley. Quick and easy commute to the city. If you've ever wanted to live in a real deal NYC loft this is such a one.
2 long term leaseholders in loft-law protected building. This is a 6 month term sublet only.
We keep a clean house, but have patience with in-process projects and occasional clutter.
1st month and deposit, which will be returned upon end of term, assuming place is left in good condition.

Al loves dogs, but not cats. We'd prefer someone with no pets, but are open to discussing it with the right applicant.
