Bright, open, newly-renovated apartment in the heart of Le Camas, one of Marseille's most lovely and central residential neighborhoods. This architect-designed home on the third floor (with elevator) of an art deco building has all the convenience of new, high-end fixtures and appliances, melded with an attention to beautiful warm materials that preserve the period charm of the space. With both southern and northern exposure, the apartment remains bright all day. Well-insulated, it remains cool in summer and warm in winter, with new efficient electric heating, ceiling fans and air-conditioning (which I rarely use). For those who like to cook, the kitchen is spacious and well-appointed. The living room closes off completely to become a second bedroom, with an excellent new sofa-bed. The balcony faces an open and very quiet courtyard area.
The apartment is one block from Blvd Chave, a beautiful avenue lined with great restaurants, cafes and excellent bakeries, wine and cheese shops, etc. The tram runs down this street, two minutes' walk from the apartment, directly to the very center of Marseille and the Vieux Port. Short walk to La Plaine (Place Juan Juares) and the Cour Julien, an area full of cafés, and some of the cities best and most interesting restaurants, bars, cinemas, etc. The squares offer the quintessential relaxed outdoor social life of Marseille. Twenty minute walk to the Vieux Port, but nestled in a very characterful residential neighborhood. There is a gym next-door that provides short-term memberships if needed.
I am an artist and writer from the US, living between Marseille and the US for the last four years. In the summer, I am teaching in the US and visiting family.
Deposit of $1,000 required. Prefer a video meeting, both to talk to the prospective tenant, and to show them around the apartment. Looking for one tenant only for this period, though I do have some flexibility with start and end dates.
Well-behaved and non-destructive dogs allowed, with advance agreement.
