Rooms for Sublet

$1,500/month

Available

January 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026

Neighborhood

Astoria, New York

Transportation

Close to N/W train at 36th Ave

I'm subletting my room in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment in Astoria with convenient access to the N/W trains at 36th Ave. It's a 7 minute walk to the 36th Ave station; or a 20 minute walk to the Queensboro Plaza or Queens Plaza stations for additional access to the 7, E, F, M, or R trains. I am moving to Los Angeles, so I am looking for someone to takeover the room for the remaining duration of the lease.

The apartment is shared with 1 roommate (25M, more details below). The bedroom is approximately 12.8 ft by 8.8 ft with a small walk-in closet. The bedroom will be UNFURNISHED. The sublettor will have a private bathroom. The apartment is on the first floor up about 8 steps to the front porch. The kitchen is small, but the living and dining areas are a decent size. There are new hardwood floors (the landlord is very proud of this). There are wall-mounted ACs in each bedroom and the front living space.

Rent is $1,500/month + $1,500 deposit (paid back to me - I have documentation of the condition of the apartment on move in and am happy to discuss any concerns regarding the condition).

The roommate is a 25 year old gay man who works full time in theater. His work schedule is 9-5 but regularly includes evenings and occasional weekends, so he is often away from the apartment. He does not drink and is very sociable. He cooks regularly when he is home. Otherwise he tends to spend time in his room and is relatively quiet. We don't know the other tenants in the building very well, but they have been friendly every time we've run into them.

We are looking for a respectful, responsible tenant to take over my room who will help maintain a clean, well-cared for apartment. NO PETS. No smoking. No excessive noise either. Please be respectful of both the current (lease-holding) roommate and the neighbors.

If you are interested in the apartment, please email me with your name, what you do for a living, and tell us a bit about yourself (hobbies, what you like to do, do you cook regularly, do you like to have friends over, what are you watching/reading/listening to). I will be screening potential roommates before they see the apartment and meet with my roommate. Our landlord has requested to meet whoever we decide on before they move in as well.
