We are 4 artists dedicated to accountability and equity, working in design, performance, sound, and visual art looking to share our beautiful, affordable 810 sq foot studio in Red Hook with other conscientious artists. We’d like to share with someone who has a (clean+quiet) art practice or needs part-time office space.

Here’s what we have available:

The studio is gorgeous and large, split into two areas (17 x 17 and approx 17 x 30): 12 foot ceilings, hardwood floors, and one exposed stone wall. There is a window and fire escape that opens onto the water and a beautiful sunset view.

Currently, the space also includes a small kitchenette/break area, piano, a shared writing table and cozy chairs, with desks along the walls leaving an open middle floor. There is an option for climate controlled, large-size art storage for an extra $100 month on an adjacent wall. The bathroom is shared with other art studios. The building is 24/7 access, has a freight elevator, security, and is just across from the Food Bazaar. Utilities, wifi, heat, and air conditioning included in the price.

In addition to the shared areas, you will have your own corner for desk/office space (approx 6x6 with 12' high ceilings). We would ask that you keep your desk and supplies against the walls, so the floor stays open for sharing, movement, etc. Best for someone with a clean and QUIET practice: writers, editors, photographers, visual artists whose practice/materials stays in your areas (please no sawdust, etc). Someone who is not on zoom all day, or comfortable taking zoom/phone calls in a shared hallway area outside.

We are all part-time with off-site work, and ask you be the same. We share a schedule of both "open" shared quiet hours, and "closed" hours where each artist has alone time.

The space is an absolute dream and we are looking for a conscientious, mindful, and communicative studio mate. We are a multi-racial space open to BIPOC and white folks who are examining privilege, and who are excited to share this incredible space with us! We are able to do a sliding scale to accommodate those that face systemic barriers in accessing art spaces.

About us: 2 of us have been collaborating together for many years, and sharing a studio for the past 5ish years. We are deeply dedicated to our art practices, anti-racist organizing, good communication, and being human beings not ‘humans doing.’

If you are interested, please get back to us with a little about yourself:
-How you heard about the space
-Your art practice, general work schedule, creative habits, access needs, etc
-What attracts you to sharing and being in community with us: any relevant experience in community, shared space, etc and/or your commitment to equity
-Anything else you think we should know!

Thanks and looking forward!
