Imagine having not one, but two spacious beautiful rooms to yourself. These fully renovated private rooms feature two large windows facing East where the morning light beams in. The windows look out over a large, beautiful garden with a cherry blossom tree. Kitchen and bathroom are shared with an easy-going woman who eats organic and likes to cook. Total apartment is 1,000 square feet This space is in Flatbush, a trending, hot neighborhood with flower-lined tree beds and cool hangouts featured in the New York Times. It's a quick 6-minute walk to the subway and buses. Individuals welcome. This is a 420-friendly, diverse building with multi-racial & LGBTQIA+ residents.
This private suite of two rooms is the back half of the first floor of a 1910 home, with many restored details from the original architecture. It's on an award-winning, tree-lined block in Brooklyn. You have 2 private doors with locks. You reach them by going through the shared unit and down the hallway.
Restored details include the original pine wood floors, exposed brick walls, antique door plates, glass door knobs, and a patterned tin ceiling. Get a great breeze by leaving the windows open and using the 3 ceiling fans in the unit.
The kitchen has been completely redone. It has a gold-veined granite stone countertop, shaker kitchen cabinets with a full length pantry for brooms, a porcelain tile floor in a wood look and a Travertine Italian stone backsplash. Large refrigerator and gas stove make this a great kitchen for culinary exploration. We're all big foodies here and have an organic compost bin in the garden.
Check out the video tour, which also shows the rooms, the garden and the close-knit neighborhood.

The backyard reveals a stunning garden with a blue-stone path, antique furniture, Adirondack chairs, a grill, and as mentioned above, a cherry-blossom tree that has a spectacular blooming each April.
The rooms include THREE closets. Two closets in the room, and one large, locked, private walk-in closet in the hallway.
House is on a green block full of trees and award-winning flower beds, with decorative flower pots in front of the houses. The block also won the first ever sustainability award from the Greenest Block in Brooklyn contest. Neighbors are friendly and supportive. There is a real sense of community with a block association and people helping each other out. The block received a $5,000 grant to start vegetable gardens in people’s backyards. Neighbors came and built raised beds for us and helped us select vegetables. This year, we didn't have time to grow in the back, but we grew kale, tomatoes, basil and cilantro in front. You are welcome to help with the garden and share in whatever we grow.
Prospect Park is a fifteen-minute bike ride away, and a lovely community garden is a five-minute walk. Cool spots like the vegan Caribbean restaurant Aunts et Uncles (featured in the New York Times), Lips Cafe, a smoothie/juice bar called Cocoa Bean, and the popular Exquisite Express jerk chicken spot make Flatbush a fun, vibrant, and trending community. There are multiple health food stores in the neighborhood, and several laundromats are within easy walking distance.
The house is near loads of public transportation. Three quick blocks to the 2 and 5 trains which go to downtown Brooklyn and most major Manhattan locations. Two quick blocks to the 35 and 44 buses. You can also take the 35 bus to the Church Avenue Q and B Express trains.
We own the building and live on the 2nd floor. We are easily available for any repairs or problems, and we make sure that the house is well-maintained. We do our best to respond promptly and politely to anything that comes up. We're proactive about keeping a pest-free home, and hope that's a priority for you as well. We use all-natural methods to address pests. We make an effort to create a quiet, nurturing environment.
We're a couple that works in non-profit advocacy and publishing. We're looking for someone relaxed and considerate to be a member of our community.
There will be some construction this year, or next year, to make the backyard even more welcoming, by building a beautiful blue stone patio that everyone in the house will be able to use to relax in the garden. After construction there will be direct access to the garden from the kitchen. The garden is reached currently by going down the inner stairwell to the basement, and out the back door. On the months when there is construction, we offer a $100 discount on the rent.
Wi-fi is $35/month, payable to the housemate. The other utilities in total are $100/month. If you want to put in an AC, it's OK. There's an extra $50 charge for electric on the months you run the AC.
No pets, please.
