One bedroom is available in my 2 BR / 1 bath apartment in Bed Stuy (close to the Clinton Hill / Bed Stuy border), where I've lived for the last five years. The room is available as of October 1. This could be a good fit as a temporary sublet (minimum stay of three months) or for someone who is looking for a more long-term roommate situation. Rent is $1275/month, which includes all utilities, WiFi, and cleaning supplies.

About the apartment and bedroom:
-Floor-through apartment with lovely natural light
-Third-floor walk-up
-Open plan common space, which is furnished and can't accommodate a ton more furniture (but I'm open to conversation about it)
-The common area faces the street, while both bedrooms face the backyard
-The available bedroom fits a full bed and dresser and, depending on the specs, a desk and/or shelves, and has a closet
-The bedroom will be unfurnished (although the outgoing roommate would be very happy to sell her mattress + bed frame as she is moving abroad)
-Pets: no dogs, but a 1-cat household is possible depending on LL

About the building:
-Owner-occupied building on a quiet one-way street
-The owner and her family live on the garden and first floors, and two other tenants live on the second floor
-Everyone is cordial and friendly

About the neighborhood:
-A five-minute walk to either the Bed-Nos G or the Myrtle-Willoughby G
-Lots of great coffee shops, restaurants, and bars nearby
-Only a five-minute walk to Herbert von King Park
-Brooklyn Public Library branch right around the corner
-Multiple laundromats in easy walking distance

About This Lister

I'm Laura (she/her). I'm a consumer protection lawyer in my mid-30s, and I’m a friendly introvert who’s home a lot of the time. I’m an avid cyclist, and I love crosswords, reading, roller skating, and cooking/baking. I occasionally get totally sucked into vapid TV shows. I don't smoke and I only drink on occasion.

I'm looking for a roommate who's considerate, thoughtful, and committed to keeping common spaces clean. Sound travels easily in the apartment - if you're looking to play loud music, have frequent guests, or bring the party home, it won't be a good fit. Because I do work remotely on a regular basis and because noise travels enough to overhear phone conversations, a roommate who works mostly in the office would be ideal.

If you think this sounds like it could be a good fit, reach out and tell me more about yourself! If it sounds like we might be a good roommate match, we can plan a time for you to come see the space. (I also want to note that, in some less-than-ideal timing, I’ll be traveling and out of email contact for a couple days in early to mid September - I apologize in advance for any email delays!)

Rental requirements

First month's rent and security deposit, as well as a few rental references and some indication of financial stability. You would not be on the lease, but we would fill out a short sublease agreement.
